Results have finally come through. Everyone did much worse than expected, especially performance wise. The girls are all great performers. Maybe it didn't shine through on the camera. None of them got a distinction and even the merits weren't all that high.

How disappointing after all the waiting 😢

Be nice if RAD (& other bodies) could provide some level of free temporary access to their online content during this crisis to support its students & teachers (or at least at a reduced fee?) with perhaps discount incentive on future purchases to those who have already paid full fees etc for app access/DVD’s etc....

They offered 10% off over the weekend. It’s gone back up today though unfortunately.

Has anyone on here used this app and can you tell me if it has worked for you as the reviews are terrible, also you can access the videos on more than one device after you have paid? There is no info on the app at all!

My DDs dance teacher has just closed the school due to coronovirus and told us to practice using this app (grade 2 exam in early June).

    Thanks xx

Yes we have it and with my Apple ID I have all the grades I have purchased on my phone, my daughters phone and an iPad. My daughter doesn’t use it as much as me but it’s been a godsend for the syllabus I’m studying.

Thank you SJBallet. That’s probably the bit I’m struggling with most - we are so busy in general that I really savour the occasional weekend off. DS will probably be fine but not sure I’m ready. 😂

To be honest. I did change my working patterns once September came so that I only work 4 days. That way I can get ahead of myself before the weekend hits. If I’m not taking DD to JAs we’re at football with out DS so we really don’t have weekends free. I’d have really found this hard if I was out at work 5 days a week too.

Yes, it’s just over 2hrs of travelling by trains each way for us (about 70 miles).  I don’t mind too much as Covent Garden is lovely but it does take up a whole day and we are pretty knackered by the time we get home again in the evening.

We travel 1 hour each way (50 miles) and do 32 sessions. It’s pretty much every weekend with the odd week off around half term and 3 weeks in April. DD loves it and we have embraced our busy Saturdays (read that as I’ve accepted that Saturdays are none existent for me now 😂).

It may be that she has that indefinable magic, something special that says that she is a musical and well coordinated dancer as opposed to a bendy machine. I have seen many year 7s over the years at WL who were not in flat splits etc. to begin with.

This is really interesting to know. We are only at the very beginning of our ballet journey but DD has a dream! I look at her and think about how she’s not blessed with natural flexibility, I do often say to her that the flip side of this is she has quite a lot of control so perhaps this will go in her favour when the time comes.

Congratulations to all those that are on the next step this year. Sorry for the ‘not yets’

  7. Thank you all.

Combining it with a holiday is a really good idea although I don’t think my OH would see it that way 😂. But something to think about.

Unfortunately we’ve booked our summer hols for the beginning of the school holidays so summer schools are out for us this year, but I did like the look of Moorlands. We’re in Yorkshire so will also consider YBSS next year but I think that’s hard to get into?

I’ll have a bit more of a think and check when the closing date is.

Does anyone have DC attending Malvern next Easter?

My DD is very keen to go but is only 9 and I'm wondering how she'll get on getting her hair into a bun each morning 😀

I’d be interested in this too. I’ve just seen the Malvern spring intensive and am wondering whether to apply. DD is 9 (Sept bday) and I can’t decide whether she’s just a little too young yet. She’s already decided that she’s applying for them all next summer when she’s 10 so I don’t know whether to just wait. Location wise they are all so far away 😳

What was the answer to that question out of interest? I did put a pic of DD on my (private) instagram page but still feeling a bit bad about it (even though no-one other than my immediate family and close friends will ever see it 😂)

I specifically asked about private Dance school Social media accounts and the answer was no x

Just a note about the bands. Definitely worth washing them, just to get any excess colour out of them. I hand washed my daughters as I’d marked it when trying to adjust it (I’m not that forward thinking to consider the colour running lol) and was surprised it made the water slightly blue. What a pain for you @BattementBatty😩

DD absolutely loved her first session and loved Miss Hatton at Leeds. A few people had warned me it will be basic and boring and I did start to wonder if it would be right for her but she loved the calm and the discipline of it. I think it was almost like meditation for her💙💙

How did everyone else find their first week?

Wow, I don't think I would have expected anyone to call it basic and boring. I did tell DD it would go right back to basics which would be what she should expect.

DD really did enjoy it and has done her exercises every night so far.

It would be really good to put a face to our balletco names (I'm the parent that asked about the social media photo's!!!)
