From what I understand the accreditation hasn't come through in time. My dd also has a friend in the same position. I don't know any more yet. Will let you know if I find out anything else.

Thank you - this makes sense.  She just doesn't know what to do this year now.

  2. It is the FdA Professional Dance Performance where she planned to do a classical ballet pathway and then do a third year on the BA (Hons) Professional Performance (top-up).  She chose this over two other offers.  DD can't get out of her exactly what happened so I have come here to see if anyone knows anything happening at LSC.  DD is just finding it difficult to support her and I didn't know what to suggest.

Does that mean there are only 16 boy MA places in the whole of U.K. for RBS?

Yes there don't ever appear to be as many boys in MAs - lower as a percentage of the total than the JAs or SAs.  There have been a few boys at other centres in the past as noted by @coniger, also Newcastle from memory.  I would just ask them.

Yes.  I have thought about trying to fund raise and have looked at charitable trusts (without any success so far, as they all seem to support community arts projects not individual students) but as you say very difficult to know what to do when you don't know the situation and how much you need to raise.  Like you we absolutely cannot raise full fees, and even half fees would be a massive stretch.  Just going to have to go with the flow, I have come to the conclusion if it's meant to be it will be, and if it does not happen this year we will be preparing for Year 8 audition.  The system feels stacked against those of us without big incomes, as if we were rich we could just go the route of paying the full fees at this stage.  It is a shame there are not more MDS awards and charitable trust support available; sadly the arts are not a high priority for Government and this is only likely to get worse after Covid 19. We can only do the best we can for our talented Children, and keep on trying and keep on exploring different routes and options.  If we give in to the system because it is so impenetrable, it will never get any better for those in the future.  Anyway good luck and good health to everyone, I am sure there will be some good news soon.

You have possibly looked at this site but incase you haven't seen it.

I had a reply to my email (had to re-send it a few times). All MDS have now been accepted but reserve list remains open until end of the academic year.  They won’t tell you where on the list you are though.

From reading their funding policies in the past I thought that MDS was only offered to lower school although some current pupils were able to take this into 6th Form. An MDS for 6th Form would surely be financially better than a DaDA.  Is this a revision of the policy?  They also gave a top, middle or bottom ranking although in reality I don't support many will get waitlist places and DC need to make other plans.

That would depend on whether they are employees or contractors.

In this case they will most likely be self-employed.  The venue may already have been paid so their terms will have to be taken into account by the organiser which I appreciate is their issue rather than the participants.  My feeling is that refunds should be made if the alternative offering is not suitable. At the very least e-mails should be not be going ignored.  I know quite a few people who have been unable to get refunds on travel and hotels for recent dance events that were cancelled although some have been offered credit notes.  For a non-dance related event despite paying in full in advance for a good deal, and the hotel still open at the point we cancelled, we received a full refund on cancellation without our asking.

Southbank have contacted ticket holders to say that all events up until 30th June have been cancelled.  This means that ENB’s Emerging Dancer will not be going ahead but I have heard nothing from ENB. Has anyone heard anything?

I had an e-mail yesterday about the cancellation of events at Southbank and today one specifically relating to Emerging Dancer giving the new date.  They will move all tickets to a new date, 22nd September, and if you are unable to make it you can get a credit voucher valid for two years or a refund.  The deadline for the latter two options is 6th June.

@junedancer I had hoped that They would just exclude people who have travelled from High risk areas or ask them to self isolate. I think they made the right decision but we were so looking forward to it 😭😭😭😭

Did they not ask those attending to respond with regards to travel plans?  They will have made this decision off the back of this and other advice. Other Easter intensives may now follow their example.

Not aware that they will cancel but RBS will not be allowed to accept into WL those who have travelled from any of the countries on the Government list.

Sorry, I need to take back my optimism!

  10. The closing date for the GM role was end of February so time yet for interviews and any appointment to be announced.  I can’t see them running any of the proposed masterclasses and workshops until later in the year at this rate.

I am worried Spring Intensive will be cancelled due to Covid19. DS would be devastated. If there are students coming from abroad though there might be cancellations @Ballerina’sMom.

My Dd attended ENB  2018 and 2019. They were like 2 completely different summer schools and experiences. The first year was well organised with great teaching ( Ist year school teacher + other superb teachers) and a parent watching day at the end of the week. My Dd felt she had improved heaps and was inspired to give her best the whole 2 weeks.

The second time was badly organised, some days not starting until 11.30 am and other days finishing by 3pm. No routine and mediocre, uninspiring teachers. No parent watching at the end of the week.  Whether the changes in leadership and the prospect of moving premises had an effect, I’m not sure. I’m positive,  now the changes have taken place, everything will be back to normal. Both times, the class sizes were huge with very little room to do the exercises properly on the barre so hopefully they have sorted that issue.

Thank you - this pretty much confirms what we have been told.

The great plans for the 2019 course never came off and the loss of teachers and administrators (never mind lack or leadership) would have contributed greatly.  For this summer they have reduced the class sizes and have offered it to a reduced age range and it will be in their lovely new building.

Does your DD plan to attend this year or have you been put off?

Does anyone know when elmhurst ss applications close?

My understanding is that they fill the places as the applications come in.  Just started to look at the application myself and couldn't see a date.  Last time we looked to apply it was the same.  Hopefully someone might know more.  I am interested to hear how quick they respond.  Looking to book a holiday and don't want to wait too long!

she was 16 (last year summer course), all very pretty, made friends etc but found the course not demanding enough. Comparing it with Ellison or summer in Portugal. Incoparable. She did not enjoy the contemporary part at all (just walking around in circle). This year she is in Prague did not want to apply anyhting in UK.

Thank you.  The dates for Ellison intensive is too early for us.  I wasn't able to work out how the classes worked for Portugal.  Do you sign up for individual classes?  We may take a look at this.

ENBS - tried sping and summer - not one for her, her feedback was 'ok to socialise not demanding enough', also placed in incorrect lower group so was not challenging enough

She has tried first time RB this summer but said is was good but not demanding enough

Anyone here able to give feedback on the ENB Summer Course?  After the experience of being at what I took to be the upper end of a very long wait-list last year we were pleasantly surprised to get an offer this year.  However we are having second thoughts after hearing a few stories about chaotic timetabling, some uninspiring teachers etc.  last year.  We are also now not sure if it being non-residential will work for us.

@FlexyNexy - we agree with your comment on RBS but are assuming that as they get older there will be more hours of dance.  Which age group was your DD when she attended?  We felt there wasn't enough ballet content compared to other courses.  Just trying to gauge if your DD is at the same stage of training for us to be comparable.

Hi all and thanks for the feedback.

Yes, White Lodge was definitely ticked (MA was left unticked).

I had assumed, what with the results seeming to come out in dribs and drabs, that the clear yes and clear no candidates were getting responses first, whilst the audition team decided on those in the middle.

I think I'll follow your lead DreamChaser. Who did you speak to? Do you have a number or email address?

    Thanks again for all.the feedback.

Definitely contact them as for WL at this stage it is either a yes for finals or a no thanks not yet.  For MAs it will be either yes, wait list or not yet. Hope you can get this resolved soon - the waiting is always bad enough.

Hi - has anyone heard back from Birmingham 30 Jan auditions? Just not sure if I ticked both boxes! X

I have read elsewhere here that you have to apply for WL and MAs or SAs separately - that is one application and set of photographs but two application fees.

Yes I did but they never bothered to even read my question properly. We will give it a miss!

Just been messaging her Mum about something else and they have pretty much decided to give it a miss as a whole week wont be possible for them. They were looking for details on the timetable for the week.  Does anyone have that information yet?
