  1. I recall getting my first passport so at that time it was when you were 16 and I was 5’3.  I spent the next three to four years saying I was that height until someone questioned me and said I was definitely taller so tape measure out and I had grown to just short of 5’6”!  Don’t give up hope.

It's free :) And it was also free to attend the scholarship audition!

Thanks Sunrise81.  Does anyone know how likely you are to get a place and how would people rate it?  DD met someone who went a few few years ago.  They are a really experienced dancer and at that time entering and winning competitions.  She is too shy to ask the girl for information so hoping someone here can shed some light before we attempt the photos - never my strong point!

So a little Facebook search showed a boy in Australia has a yes for summer! I had forgotten what the waiting was like for things - haven't done it for two years nearly since waiting for JA results!

I was surprised to read this as the summer school applications are still open so went to look and they have now changed this to say it is for the Spring course.

It’s disappointing but if you take away the very few top tier institutions in the UK such as RBS and ENBS which don’t send their dancers to P de L ......

Beatriz Kuperus a 3rd year student ENB is in the 2019 list of those competing.

I had seen the Dot aswell, but this looks great. Will this be ok for DD to practice pirouettes and pointe work when she started after Xmas?

We have an off cut of this type of flooring and it is basically a non-slip linoleum - it the same as the flooring you might get in a studio just not stuck down - so should be fine for pirouettes and pointe.

Does anyone know why you can’t use it on carpet?

As noted by DancingShoes it will depend on the carpet and also the actually flooring you buy as some of them - the non-flexible ones - are more rigid so the carpet wouldn't impact as much.  DD's friend has a solid board for tap that sits on carpet but not sure what it would do for the carpet.

Am I the only one that finds it really insulting that these auditions are taking place and being seen as a good thing??? How about some loyalty to British dancers? Do the children in Year 11 at White Lidge know if they have Upper school places yet or is it hanging over them as they see their AD in various places recruiting?

ENB are also casting the net further this year with auditions around the world and in the changes to their summer school programme.

  7. If the teacher is happy with her in the class then this seems sensible and better than her dancing with younger children. There is no requirement to have done any of the grades as a pre-requisite until you get to the vocation grades.  Grade 1 for a six year old is probably the average as the youngest you can sit the actual exam is age 7.

DD uses a canvas tote bag with a selection of smaller zipped bags ( like makeup bags/large pencil cases/A4 size zipper bags she found somewhere! etc ) inside, with each class having its own 'bag' and then bags for hair stuff etc!

Good idea - think we may well adopt that as the bag DD uses seems to have dance wear and shoes for every type of dance regardless of what class she is going to!
