    Hi my lovely

My thoughts are with you both at what is a frustrating and sad time, but the good news is you have seen an orthopaedic surgeon quickly we waited a year before our fantastic surgeon came along,my dd,had a extremely damaged cartlidge and her knee came off the socket,a problem hard to treat, caused by the floor which is in badly need of repair.

But the good news is her orthopaedic surgeon said,if if was menicus tear it would be easily sorted by physio or a quick operation recovery short and excellent, infact her sports therapist had this done, and his knee is better than before more stronger.

If you need any more support please message me,and let me no how the mri goes for your dd.

Thank you so much stardancer,  that's so kind of you.  I know you know exactly what we're going through and appreciate we're actually in a more fortunate position.  Hope your DD recovery is still heading in the right direction.  Xx

  2. @stardancer - many apologies for stealing this thread but I thought there would be some overlap.  Just got back from seeing Orthopaedic surgeon. ..DD has suspected torn meniscus.  Anybody have experience of this?  She has to have MRI to confirm next week.  To say she's devastated is an understatement.  She's just got into EYB - casting next month. Help! Any advice gratefully accepted.  Is this the same as your DD @stardancer?

I was only thinking about this the other day, as DD has been very tired lately, and been inside a lot with school work or dancing!

what supplements does anyone take?  are there any 'nice' tasting ones? !!! ... more chance of DD taking it if it tastes ok!

Get her a blood test. DD has been prescribed a high dose of Vitamin D. One of her dance teachers recommended Berocca plus a teenager multi vitamin.

  4. Hi there, DD after serious flu bug has been diagnosed with very low levels of Vitamin D.  I have a telephone appointment with my GP tomorrow and I'm still at work so haven't been able to Google yet...does anybody know if she should stop dancing for a while.  She's too weak at the minute anyway but I'm just wondering if anybody has been through this. Thanks.

  5. Permanently greasy hair I'm afraid for my DD . Perfect bun each time though.  Also the sleeping nets rather than bun nets from Boots - can be wrapped around several times.  DD much better than I ever was - she watched youtube videos.

I have just taken out health insurance for my dd,I pay £18,fully comp any hospital, I could of payed £12 for a basic policy ,but choose the other,as no excess, but having said that I have not had to use it yet.

But what I do no is I recently had to pay a private physio for my dd for six months, and still this was much cheaper than her dance fees, and the lady was nicer.

Who is this with @stardancer? Does this cover include physio?

  7. She did have a pair of GM and I completely agree about the nightmare that was the ribbons!  She liked them at first but fell out of love with them. We have a brilliant fitter who spends ages making sure she gets the right ones. Her first ever pair were Bloch and she's had Freed and Grishko as her feet/strength  have changed.  She loves Bloch European and they do look lovely on - it's just she's getting through them quickly.  @balletbean she's currently Grade 6 and Intermediate.  Does roughly between 2 - 6 hours a week - rehearsing for performance at the minute. @Jane she does have 2 pairs but leaves them on longer than an hour so I've told her what you've said and she'll try that. She's also admitted she's not been letting them air so we've discussed that too. Maybe let her continue with these for now with a show coming up and then try one of the others you've recommended.  I've also asked her to discuss them with her teacher. Thanks everyone.

I would ring them.  Personally I think it is incredibly poor that they are sending out the wrong information to students.  I would bring them to task over it.  It’s clearly not an isolated incident.

    Agree wholeheartedly.

Aaah in the most dreadful situation! I have received both a no and a yes email simultaneously! My mum suggested just to send through the yes details! But she will ring Elmhurst tomorrow morning (it is torture!)

please please please please cross your fingers and toes for a YES for me!:wub:

Oh no...that's awful.  Mistakes happen but that's just not great at all. Everything crossed here. Do let us know.

DD torn between Ballet West and RCS......opinions??!

We're not at this stage yet but I read everything with interest as these are on our short lists. There's lots on here about the remote nature of Ballet West and I'm guessing that's a huge consideration.  Plus what about living accommodation?  Good luck.

  11. So pleased for you all...can't believe all of the offers and decisions you've now got to make. Do keep us informed.  RCS is on our list for a few years time - due to funding amongst other things. How on earth are you going to choose? Good luck.
