  1. DD is dancing for the first time in a show on pointe. Obviously that entails a lot more time on pointe (rehearsing etc ) than she is used to. I'm happy that her shoes were fitted very well. Is there anything else she should do to preserve her feet? Toe tape, pouches etc... Thanks

  2. The waiting is the worst isn't it? I was aware that when it comes to Musical Theatre sometimes you don't get in because you don't have the right look for a character - wrong height, hair colour etc...but I was told the other day that the same can be true for some dance companies. I think it helps my dd if she understands that it's not that she's isn't good enough, just not what they are looking for on the day.

  3. My Dd's audition consisted of her taking part in one of the classes, im fairly sure this is the first " formal " audition for this programme. I can tell you a class consists of barre work, then centre work, groups of 3 or 4 from the corner doing combinations of exercises and then in lines where the front line is rotated. My daughter is in level 2 age 13 , she was in grade 6 Rad and intermediate when she started. I dont think there was anything she hadnt already done. The class is very focused on technique .

    Thank you, that's really helpful.

  4. Thank you everybody. I genuinely appreciate your guidance. I'm going to have a chat to her current dance teacher just out of courtesy really and to get their opinion as to what would be best for her. The majority of what you've all mentioned though look like they will really compliment her current exam classes. Thank you.

  5. Hi Hoglett, have you thought about associate schemes? my dd is in a similar situation but only 1 hour RAD grade 4 ballet and tap hour Y 6, she will also be starting interfoundation in the next few weeks which is a hour and a half a week. We've been looking at associate classes for my dd for in y7, have found a few possibles in Birmingham, Warrington and Leeds, many of them have auditions coming up in the summer term and are on Sunday's. Northern ballet have an amazing CAT ballet scheme in Leeds, which dds dance teacher has highly recommended she apply for next year. Where are you based ?

  6. My dd is desperate to do more dance but I don't know where to go to find more. She is in Year 7 and does about 7 hours of ballet, 2 of tap/jazz /open. She's going to audition for EYB . She's currently studying Rad grade 5 and intermediate foundation. What else should I be looking at for her? Thanks.
