  1. It took my dd over 2 years from starting Inter Foundation to doing her exam. The Inter Foundation classes at her local school are on a Saturday, so initially they clashed when dd was dancing at Tring (on their "old" version of Tring Park Associates), and then they clashed with her present Associate class. She learned almost all of the syllabus at private and semi private lessons. She was supposed to take the exam last summer but we were on holiday, so she took it in November. Having been on course for a distinction, she was very ill on the day of the exam and got a merit. If the new Inter Foundation syllabus is like the new Intermediate, then I think she would have learned it more quickly as there are fewer exercises to learn now (although many exercises combine steps).
  2. Welcome to you too, mumstheword! :-)
  3. Hello 2littledancers! Welcome to the forum. :-)
  4. If it helps, my dd sang "Castle on a cloud" from Les Mis - she was offered a Musical Theatre place on the strength of it. It!'s age appropriate and not too long so a good choice.
  5. I would definitely ask the teacher. I thought I had sewed dd's first pointe ribbons correctly but the teacher showed me exactly how and where to sew them. Second go was better but still needed slight adjustment! Now she's on her fifth pair the only comment I got was "very impressive sewing!" so I think I've finally cracked it! :-))
  6. What a brilliant video! I had a little tear in my eye too. ;-))
  7. I'm not sure whether it would give you a real idea Jellybeans - there must be far fewer places available for year 10 than for sixth form, if for no other reason than there are more schools for Upper School training. Then add in the fact that Year 10 places at the "big four" depend on how many students make it through Year 9 Assessments. If (hopefully) most students pass their Assessments you're only talking a few Year 10 places being available. We may not send our dd to audition for Year 10 places as she's so happy at her current school. If she auditioned and was fortunate enough to get a place then I'm not sure I would be happy for her to start somewhere new at the start of GCSEs, and if she got a "no" on the basis that there are not many places, I wouldn't want it to knock her confidence for sixth form auditions.
  8. You must have wowed them at auditions, LB! :-) Very well done - keep us posted, won't you!
  9. Thanks Anjuli, I see what you mean. I guess my dd's situation is slightly different then as she's not wearing them as preparation for pointe, but more to "top up" the strengthening exercises she's already doing?
  10. Thanks John. When I switch between my ipad and the PC the only change I notice is that on the ipad I don't have emoticons. I haven't noticed any other differences so perhaps I'm accidentally not switching to Mobile....not sure. I will keep an eye out though.
  11. As the post has been removed now, I do think people should perhaps say little on the subject until an official announcement is made. I know that many disagree with how the whole situation has been handled by the board of ENB but I am worried that someone may accidentally say more than they mean to.
  12. Welcome to the forum, Shimmer! :-))
  13. That's interesting Pas de Quatre. I can understand the floor providing resistance when the foot is actually working on or with the floor, for example in a tendu - but what about all the time that the foot is off the floor?
  14. The physio's view is that full soles and especially soft blocks make the feet work harder, as there is more resistance against the foot to get the same visible degree of point. So split soles might make the feet look prettier with more of a point, but they're not actually making the foot do any extra work. For non-dancers, the best example I can give is to feel the difference between pointing your foot when only wearing a sock, and pointing it when wearing slippers - your foot has to work harder to achieve the same result.
  15. My daughter has hers hanging up by their ribbons all over her bedroom. Mind you, she grew out of them before they were really manky so they look pretty. Once her feet have stopped growing I can't imagine she'll hang up really smelly dirty dead ones. :-)
  16. Yes Rowan, as far as I know they are all the same thing! :-)
  17. Yes, that's exactly what our LEA told me too Spooky.
  18. Yes, that's true. I can't help thinking that it would have been easier just to stick to "no split soles in Vocational Exams" and be done with it! :-)
  19. Hello Stardancer, Like me, JulieW is a Moderator so our job is to try to keep the forums running smoothly. We don't get paid for moderating so it's not a case of having nothing better to do; Julie is Moderating in the little bit of spare time she gets. Now that we know you're dyslexic we won't ask you to use capitals and punctuation etc. again. Kind regards, Spanner. :-)
  20. Hello Kat09 - welcome to the forum! :-)
  21. It sounds as if the RAD have seen splitsole soft blocks, but I certainly haven't. There are some split sole pointe shoes around: http://www.dancewearsolutions.com/ballet/shoes/pointe/0051.aspx Very confusing!
