  1. so I was looking into teaching ballet but dont think I want to do a syllabus, id rather teach an open class? does anyone know what qualifications you'd need for that?
  2. I did eyb in 2015 and didnt know anyone else beforehand but had a great time and made loads of friends who im still in contact with now! and I hadnt done much pointe either, I was in the corps de ballet and my pointe work improved very quickly through rehearsals!! they also gave the option if you weren't comfortable enough en pointe you can do it in soft shoes in the same group

  5. just to update you all... i haven't heard back from the place so don't think i've got a place there however there is a possibility still i'll get a recall in january as haven't heard no yet. and i didn't get into northern, i got cut after solos yesterday. next up laban!!
  6. thank you everyone! I think the audition went will and I feel like I did the solo to the best of my ability so I'm happy with that nows the worst part - waiting!! and prepping for northern tomorrow ahhh
  7. thank you! I choreographed it myself, taking inspiration from current class material mostly! thank you, I actuslly think since starting uni my feet have got so much worse, I used to have such clean footwork without too much thought *face palm*
  8. for anyone interested I've just uploaded the 'final' version of my solo for tomorrow.... I've tried to consider all of your feedback and I hope that's evident. this was filmed at the end of a studio session and long day, so I'm positive that i will perform it with more energy and commitment at the audition, before you all comment on that! however I welcome any last minute pointers or encouragement to apply for tomorrow
  9. no, I did LSC last year but haven't bothered with that this year!
  10. BlueLou - apology accepted please don't worry, i appreciate your feedback just as much as the others! i'd much rather people were honest and gave constructive criticism as you have done than sugar coat it and tell me it was wonderful and nothing needed changing, it's much more helpful and gives me things to work on thank you x
  11. haha yep, i'm auditioning on wednesday and at northern on thursday, if i get a recall on friday it's going to be such a last minute planning thing - not ready for such a stressful week, especially on the last week of term before christmas conveniently! best of luck to your DD!!
  12. well i bloody hope my dancing isn't generally mechanical and unemotional or i really haven't got a chance have i! i'll focus a lot of my energy into this
  13. thank you all for the detailed feedback and well wishes. just to clarify, the video i posted wasn't a full out full energy run through, so i think that when i perform it on the day it will have more 'bite' and hopefully that's enough, as i don't have time to make any massive changes at this stage. i am going to try and play around with the dynamics a bit though.
  14. i'm not sure if you meant this as in mine is more like baring my soul or that's something else i should consider.... but thanks either way
  15. as far as I know everyone does solos and not many people get asked to stay for interview but they say not to read into that! and they email you and let you know if you've got a recall.
  16. I'm auditioning for the degree courses at Laban, the place and northern. thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback, I'm praying I get time to apply it before my audition on Wednesday, wish I'd come here for feedback sooner!
  17. i think this is the one i normally use: https://www.youtube2mp3.cc/
  18. i love move it!! i've been 3 years running and loved it, never had VIP ticket though so can't comment on that! to be honest, i'd be quite happy paying the admission price and then just watching the performances all day, there's so much going on! i'd say your DD would definitely be intermediate but depending on what styles she does could be advanced in her best styles for example? get into the classes as quick as possible because they all sell out, and i'd recommend studying the programme for whichever day you choose and making up your own timetable of what you definitely want to see/do and what times they all are!! also i'm sure there's threads for previous move it conventions which will answer questions you didn't even know you had
  19. just got really motivated to get working on changing it and making improvements and then realised i don't actually have studio space again before my audition, i'm going to my friend's for the weekend tomorrow and now i'm freaking out :')
  20. thank you!! i really appreciate the time you put into giving me such detail, exactly the kind of thing i needed really! i will look at all of that and make some changes, thank you again ))
  21. hiya, I've just uploaded my audition solo (for the place and northern contemporary) and just wondered if anyone had any feedback at all!!
  22. i was about to mention this place, it's such a cute little restaurant and the waiters are always so lovely, pretty quick service too
  23. another post about a workshop experience i was given at uni - gabriele reuter and mattef kuhlmey 'the amplitude' : https://adancerblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/workshop-gabriele-reuter-mattef-kuhlmey/
  24. that's amazing, can't imagine how ecstatic they'd have been!! i think my reply from laban was probably so quick because it was a no, i'm guessing they do the definite nos and definite yeses first and then address the waiting list/maybes?
  25. last year I think I auditioned for Laban on a Thursday, and got the results on the following Monday or Tuesday but they say within 2 weeks
