Tom Henderson
My child will still be 15 in September 2021 when hopes to start college. He will have finished his GCSEs equivalent in Scotland and is entitled to leave school in the summer as Birthday is 21 Sep. DADAs say you need to be 16, but he wont be 16 until 2 weeks after college starts. Is this 16 rule recognising the English system and does anybody know if there is a way round this as Scottish system is different. Its calendar year per intake and not August to August like Englsnd. Help!!!
alison
Welcome to the forum, Tom. I've moved your post into Doing Dance, which is where all the pre-professional training stuff is discussed.

Some individual colleges will also have minimum age requirements.
Tom Henderson
You have to be 16 so that you have completed Year 11. My son will have completed Year 11 in Scotland and can leave school if 16 before 30th September. The few weeks between colleges starting and 30th September is where he falls into. The DADA seems biased to the English system which I believe is 1st August last leaving date. Edited July 9, 2020 by Tom Henderson

2dancersmum
You can definitely start at one of the colleges that offer DADA funding at age 15 if you have completed your compulsory education in Scotland as one of DDs house mates (living with a landlady) was only 15 when she started and a couple of months off her 16th birthday still. Will post when I have an answer re the eligibilty for a DADA as a 15 year old - DD cannot remember.
