Hi. I wonder if anyone could suggest some classical ballet music that has a Spanish influence. I'm not looking for a repertoire piece from any of the famous ballets but that's all I seem to be able to find when I search. Any suggestions of either the music or a good place to search would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Manuel de Falla with a variety of works

Heitor Villa Lobos, Concerto for Guitar

Manuel Ponce, Concerto del Sur

Maurice Ravel, Pavane pour une infante defunte, Alborada del gracioso

Nikolai Rimsky-Korssakoff, Capriccio Espagnol

Rodrigo's Conderto de Aranjuez is superb.

Concerto d’Arenjuez?

That is one of my favourite pieces of music.  I find it so moving,  I initially thought that it might not be upbeat but I listened to the full version and it's really fantastic.

Also, if it has to be Spanish inspired rather than actually Spanish you might want to consider works by the contemporary Mexican composer Arturo Marquez -he has written lots of lively dance music.

I learnt to play "Malaguena" on the guitar, and always imagined a dancer as I played it. Do you know it's been a while but I just might get the duster out, and give it another go.

Have a look.

Oh by the way, I wasn't as good as this guy, he lost me after about a minute.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We went for a piece of music from a repertoire piece in the end. We have chosen the music from the Spanish dance in Swan lake. It's very lively and will be fun to dance to.
