EMARAL Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I’m looking for accommodation for my daughter who is 16, from Barcelona-Spain, for this summer. She has a place in Dance Summer Course A, in English National Ballet School (Hortensia Road in Fulham) and needs a room (shared or not) from 16/07 to 29/07. Anybody knows if there are any Host Family close to ENBS, Student Residence or any possibility of accommodation for her? Is there any ENBS dance student from Spain or other countries who wants to share room. She can understand and speak english very well, so she can share room and move by her own. Thank you in advance. Esther. 1
Jan McNulty Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hello Emaral and a belated welcome to the Forum. I'm sorry no-one has been able to answer your query but here is another thread that may give you some pointers:
balletbean Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Hi EMARAL, My DD is also on the same course but as she is only 15 the week before the course starts, I am going to stay as a chaperone. During my research for accommodation, I found that there are 'homestays' (host families) available details through the school. Maybe worth dropping ENBS a quick email for more details. I also contacted Imperial College as they offer Uni Halls of residence in the area for students throughout the summer. Basic but may be suitable, however, do look closely as some buildings have a licensed bar on the premises so not open to under 18's. Supervised as well (girls separated from boys etc). Hope that helps and good luck on your search.
Shirley Harris Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Hello. I am also looking for a place for my daughter, who is 17. She is coming from the US for Course A. I haven't had much luck with the "homestays" as there are only 3 available and 2 didn't reply to my queries. Please let me know if you hear of anything and I will do the same. Thanks!

I'was been looking for residences but it was very dificult to find one for under 18 girls, the two I found didn't assure that she could share a room with girls of her age, and it woul be a risk, she could be changing the room mates during the two weeks because residence are open to the turists also. I also found families trough host families companies but finally my DD will be accommodated by a friend of us, so we are happy. 1

Certainly, two of the families proposed by ENBS did not have rooms for those dates and the third one replied that she was very busy with family matters and she would answer later, a month ago that I am waiting for an answer. I've worked a lot, making phone calls and emails during this time. Residences has been complicated too because most of them doesn't accommodate students under 18 and the two that they do it they aren't sure they can accommodate your daughter in a share room with girls of around her age, and they told me the room mates could be changing because they are open to the turism, and they were also a little bit far from the school. I would have liked to find an apartment with an ENBS student or a room to share in residence because it is more attractive for them to be with girls of their age, it is a pity that the ENBS does not have a person who can coordinate this issue for foreign students (almost for families who are abroad and are asking for help). I found apartments from the ENBS list but also they couldn't give me information form another students, so it was very dificult for me. I had already located several companies from host families, in internet, like London Host Families, London Homestays, (you can find more) but finally managed to solve their stay with a family of friends. We have been very lucky. I hope our daughters enjoy the course. 1
Loulabelle Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 The Premier Inn will accept anyone from 16yrs upwards. My DD will be staying there whilst at ENBS summer school. PM me if you'd like more details. 1
Shirley Harris Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Thanks for the information. I hope I am replying to your message correctly. I have never been on a forum/chat before. Did you speak with the hotel and they said a 16 year old can check in? Is your daughter staying alone or with a roommate? How will she get to classes each day? Thanks!
Loulabelle Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 I will send you a personal message, it show you've received it as a notification at the top of this page by the three little white lines of you are on a phone.

PM me if you'd like more details. Hi, We too are classed as overseas. Challenging times sourcing accommodation even when using the list provided and other sites found on google. Just out of interest, if you don't mind me asking. Premier Inn, how close is that to the school? Breakfast and other meals? Laundry facilities? I was trying to source a self contained apt for the duration but all seem to be rather challenging on the old wallet! I thought it would be the better option that a hotel but now having doubts. all these costs obviously excl flights etc. Thank you
Loulabelle Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) Putney Bridge Premier Inn is a very short walk to the tube, then 2 stops down the District line to Fulham Broadway and about 10 mins walk from there to the school. Theres a Sainsbury's at Fulham Broadway to buy packed lunch on the way and various cafes/restaurants there too. The restaurant at the hotel serves breakfast but it costs extra and you can also eat your evening meal there but it's expensive. Nice walk over the bridge into Putney where there's lots of restaurants but we only did that once last year. The other evenings we bought pasta salads in Sainsbury's or ate in Pret or Pizza Express at the station. None cheap though. No laundry facilities. DD is doing two weeks this year but will come home in between so laundry not an issue for her. Edited April 29, 2017 by Loulabelle 1
balletbean Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Thank you Loulabelle, Very informative. We won't have the option to return home middle weekend so laundry facilities is on my list. Where is Dot Cotton and her launderette when you need one!! lol 1
Loulabelle Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Have you Googled laundrettes in London? There might be one close to the hotel. I believe Earls Court Premier Inn is walking distance from the school too. 1
