Of no real consequence, but was anyone else irritated by Anita Rani's highly-stressed pronunciation of Makarova as 'Macca-row-va' during the ballet heat?

Glad you mentioned this.  It made me laugh.  (Not, of course, that such is a bad thing - especially nowadays.) .... It reminded me very much of the late (and glorious) Anne Miller introducing Makarova in the On Your Toes segment on the Tony Awards years ago.  Only thing was/is, of course;  The Tony (Antoinette Perry) Awards were/are live ... with no time for corrections ... and the BBC segment referenced was concertedly pre-recorded with all kinds of expensive commissioners passing muster.

All, of course, speak for themselves.

P.S:  Makarova actually won her Tony Award that year and the chap who read the nominees actually corrected himself over her name when doing so.  Makarova's double take at such is priceless.  When he announced her as the winner he got it wrong again ... but she seemed not to care.   I doubt there have ever been a more stunning pair of gams climbing those steps nor a MORE humourous acceptance speech.  Touching - but entirely fitting - that she thanked Balanchine first.

For a trip down memory lane:

Isn't he? Sorry, but I would have reached for the mute button in the cinema last week (Jewels) if one had been available.

I totally agree - he should stick to sport or Newsround.
