hoglett
Hi there, noticed that the Hammond are holding auditions for 9-13 year olds. This might be a silly question but what happens if they're 13 when they actually audition? Are they kicked out at 13? Thanks.
Picturesinthefirelight
I'm almost sure Associates goes up to age 16. Seeing as they previously were only accepting applications from boys my guess is that the auditions are for the ages they have spaces for.

ponklemum
For 9 year olds how long are the classes and what time do they start? Before making the decision of taking my dd to audition, I would like to know if it's worth the 6 hour round trip.
orchidblue
The day is the same length for all associates and I think it was approx a 10am start and approx 4pm finish. They definitely get a lot out of it & well worth doing. x Classes are approx 1-1.25 hrs per session. Edited to add class times. sarahw
Ponklemum - I would think very carefully before undertaking such a long round journey - we've done up to 5 hours round trip in the past and in our case it wasn't worth it due to tiredness etc.
Picturesinthefirelight
I wouldn't do a 6 hour round trip for a 9 year old on a regular basis. However it is only once a month ish. Depends what else you have available more local to you.
ponklemum
Unfortunately a 4 hour round trip is the most local thing I have (which we do now) in Newport. Other than that Birmingham and Chester are both 3 hours away and Bristol around 2 hr 20.
sarahw
Could you get any local private lessons? The cost of Associates plus travel would get you quite a lot.....
ponklemum
I never thought of that to be honest as the children's dance school don't offer them. There's not much locally anyway in terms of dance schools but I will definitely have a look.

sarahw
It's not far from Chester station but you would need to get a taxi I think.
Picturesinthefirelight
you would need a taxi. There is a firm the school & some ofvthe day students sometimes use. I'll ask dd.

Picturesinthefirelight
That's it Kingcabs! Dd likes to use them as they are known to the school. I caught a taxi from the station to school once & it got lost!!!!!
