Referring to the higher priced seats here. They tend to be more affordable in other countries. The post to which I responded said absolutely nothing about higher priced seats.

But I agree that it is a sad state for our flagship opera house when it works out on par - or perhaps even cheaper - to fly to Munich or Zurich for the same pleasure.
I paid £25 for my Rheingold ticket, not sure I could fly to either of those cities for that price!

Can anyone say whether Roy's Joys ever did make an appearance, BTW? I stopped trying after it didn't appear on the second Tuesday.
I saw Roy's Joys on 13 September (evening performance).

Does anyone know anything about the presenter for the Insight? I haven't seen (or heard) of her before. She was fine except that it seemed a little as if she wasn't familiar with the ballet itself.
She was one half of the ROH's "in conversation" with Lauren Cuthbertson last year. I assumed she had been chosen for that by Ms Cuthbertson.

Karis is teaching at the DanceXchange (or Fabric or whatever it is now named) in Birmingham. Far cheaper than the Maldives.
But not as much in the way of sun or sandy beaches...

From the cast list I wonder if Annette will be dancing as Mercedes, with Lukas B B as Espada and with the 6 other gentlemen as his matador compadres??
Well, that was my thought too!

I don't think the ballet-loving members of the public are the intended audience for the video!

I was rather hoping that Wheeldon would start working with some new creative collaborators.

Just to be clear, AA in Wigmore Hall isn't really the front row, it's the seats to the side of the stage.

Interestingly it was only possible to buy a single ticket for Autumn season. I don't know if this was at all booking levels though. I wouldn't wait for a pair to come up.
I was able to book two tickets for this event.

If we are going to be pedantic, several is more than 3
As a professional pedant, I would say that statement is not entirely correct. Whilst several is more than 3 in the same way a square is a rectangle, most dictionaries say that several is more than 2.

That's what I thought, though presumably the Sarasota Ballet will want to keep its Patrons sweet so this visit is a PR exercise I think.
I think it's a fund-raising exercise...

There is a separate listing on the website for 5 Feb in the Clore Studio. 1 hour 15 mins without an interval. (The length/content of the main stage performances isn't yet listed.)
This is an insight event.

Just to add some colour on the Mithraeum (as I find this kind of thing fascinating and I remember seeing it many times when I moved to London).
It was originally discovered in 1954 during excavation work for the construction of Bucklersbury House. It was rebuilt about 100 yards down the road and was open to the elements and visible from the pavement. Following demolition of that (awful) building, the temple has now been returned to its original location, which is now inside the bottom of the new Bloomberg building.
And in a similar vein, there is also the Roman Amphitheatre under the Guildhall, accessed through the (free to enter) Guildhall Art Gallery. When walking through Guildhall Yard, you can see the footprint of the amphitheatre set out in the stones in the tard.

Just hope ASLEF don’t call a tube strike for the 31st or that really will put the kibosh on things!
They need to give 2 weeks notice (unless the employer agrees to shorter notice, which I doubt would happen)

I withdraw my comment about possibly seeing SL then! I'm certainly not prepared to cough up something in the region of £100 given the downsides of the overall experience at Cinderella this season. I'm also not prepared to cough up £100 10 months in advance when the casting could end up being completely different if dancers get injured & the RAH doesn't do refunds or exchanges.
The RAH will issue a credit note valid for a year

I've just looked at the ROH website to check which pieces on the list will be done by the RB & which by Sarasota Ballet but I can only find the RB Ashton bills & can't find the Sarasota Ballet performances listed. Am I missing something or are they not on there yet?
It's all in the season press release (which is somewhere on this forum) but can also be found here.

I note from the list that the ballets that we occasionally see from Ashton are all his later work, not much before 1960. Interesting that we are now mainly getting later MacMillan, regardless of quality.
Ashton at the ROH in the 23/24 season
Valses nobles et sentimentales (1947)
Dante Sonata (1940)Sinfonietta (1967)
Façade (1931)

The Dream (1964)
Rhapsody (1980)
Five Brahms Waltzes (1976)
The Walk to the Paradise Garden (1972)
Hamlet & Ophelia (1977)
MacMillan at the ROH in the 23/24 season

I haven't really changed my purchasing plans, other than reflecting that I now have other demands on my time and sometimes when I'm going on my own (which is about 25% of the time), I'll usually booking a standing place so I don't feel quite as bad if I end up with a clash and have to get rid of the ticket (also more likely that it will go to someone on here!).
For the current booking period, so far as ballet/dance is concerned, I have booked:
- Don Q - 10 + the rehearsal
- Anemoi/The Cellist - 3 (not a great fan of The Cellist but I'll give it another go)
- Dante Project - 5
- Nutcracker - 11
- Northern - 1
- Ballet Black - 1
- The Limit - 1

The curtains are staying as they are until they need to be replaced. As mentioned before, existing post boxes and railings don't get changed when the monarch changes.

I do find this chat around the ages of the ladies in Mayerling fascinating.
As I think I have posted before, here are the ages of some of the dancers as of the first performance (14 February 1978):
