  1. I am not going to be much good at picking up the pieces as I am too upset myself. Normally I hold it together but so much is going wrong right now that I just feel overwhelmed by all the bad stuff... :'( - fortunately DD is out at her fathers this evening so I can be upset without her knowing it. x
  2. Well, I have an absolutely devastated DD - she got a "no" so her time at RBS associates comes to an end. She is usually very brave about "no" letters but she has made some very good friends at MAs. I am really upset for once as we are having such a bad time with life in general that this is just yet another knock Well done to all with a "yes" F
  3. Sorry your dd didn't make Elmhurst Lildancer - their loss as she is an amazing dancer and destined for great things I am sure. F xxxxxxxxxx
  4. Hello! We were in Manchester - can't remember the date but think it was mid-January?? Seems SO long ago now!!! Not holding out much hope tbh, but until that letter arrives you never know do you??? I am going with tomorrow for what it's worth F xxxx BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Best of luck all of you waiting for those letters.... we are waiting for SA letter but am resigned to a "no" so not worrying about it too much!!!!! F xxx
  8. Sorry I have been away from forum for a few days and just catching up - very well done to the "yes" children and also to the "no" children whose day will come F xxx
  9. Amen! And so they SHOULD!!!! F x
  10. Yes!!!!! DDs very close MA friend has got a "yes" for year 10!!! :) - SO SO pleased for her! (but will miss her and her mum ) F xxx
  11. The Royal Armouries are fab! Know one of the actors who does the jousting and pretends to be a Cavalier etc!!! I take my small boy there if ever we spend the day in Leeds whilst DD at associates. As it is centrally located, you are very handy for the whole of Leeds City Centre - you won't be bored!! F x
  12. The letters are out as I know of 2 "no"s but one of our others is still awaiting her letter.. fingers crossed for her. Not long until we find out about associate places now... I am trying to forget about it! F x
  13. (not sure why that post had a line through it????? - couldn't do that again if I tried!!!!!!)
  14. yes - I know of at least two y9 Mids who have F x
  15. Think you have summed it up perfectly here! F x
  16. Think you have summed it up perfectly here! F x
  17. Think it all boils down to how you deal with situations and if you come over as confrontational then you are going to ruffle a few feathers and I am afraid you will not endear yourself to people. This will have a negative effect on your daughter too, in the long run. We ALL want the best for our dancing offspring, but we need to remember that the teachers just want the best for them too. It is maybe time to step back and have a look at how you, as a parent, may be behaving towards the staff and others? F x
  18. SA letters are the end of March - groan..... She is remarkably chipper (just got in from NB). Think she is used to it now. Just hope she will be rewarded one of these days... Thanks all F x
  19. My DDs letter arrived and it is a no for finals F x good luck to those still waiting and well done and commiserations to the others x
  20. My DD is very tall for her age (although given that she is 14 and stopped growing she is probably about right at 5 ft 8") and did successfully audition for RBS Mids - seems to me that they do seem to like long long legs and necks and shorter torsoes... F x
  21. Well my daughter has had "no"s for a boarding place every year (although got WL finals for year 7) but believe me, she does NOT feel she is rubbish! She just keeps trying as she feels that one day her time will come. There are numerous reasons why a child does not make finals - nothing to do with their ability - there are 100s of children who go through this audition process every year (all more than capable or their teachers would not have signed the application forms for them!). Even the most successful ballet dancers will have had their share of knock backs/injuries etc etc but it just prepares them for the real, tough world of ballet. Your DD must NEVER be allowed to think she is rubbish as to be allowed to audition in the first place, and to have the GUTS to do it, means that she is NOT!!!! We are currently awaiting the latest inevitable rejection from RBS but I know that my DD will pick herself up as always and I will be right there to support and reassure her. F x
  22. yes places are always limited - there are only 6 year 9 MAs in DDs class right now. She has auditioned for White Lodge every year, getting to finals for year 7. She realises there is naff all chance for year 10 but is prepared to show her face again anyway! (she doesn't give up that easily!!!) I honestly think the letters will be next week so am chilled out about the wait - I will start stressing from next week!!!! F xxx
