  1. Hopefully Tulip, Their time is 8 - 9pm. 8.45 phones confiscated!
  2. My ds normally goes to bed at 9.30pm some friends 10pm. If I sent him at 8/8.30 he would be awake half the night. He is 11. But my dd is 16 and goes to bed at 9.30pm as she is shattered dancing all day!
  3. Actually, he can paint his name on both bottles with some old nail vanish I got!
  4. Good tip afab, we will do that this year
  5. Ds don't need for WL but saying that, handy to have for choreography competitions as you can just chuck a shirt on over tights and looks good. I am sure ds will use them for something like that at Elmhurst. And well done to your ds for getting in!!!!
  6. Oh you can take sleeping bag if bedding is a pain.
  7. Just take a bottle and fill there.I will warn you now, only one boy wore shorts last year. Some leggings for prime-mark should be ok. Any black leggings will do, girls ones are ok just don't tell him!
  8. It was a lovely day. Ds is shocked that he has to be in bed by 9pm with no phone, laptop, ipad!!! His dad keeps singing to him....no phone, no laptop, no computer, what an I going to do, how bad can it get, oh no, in bed, by 9...p...m. !!!! Lol
  9. Don't worry. Bedding, towels, ballet kit, track suit, trainers, casual clothes They play tennis, go for a walk in Richmond Park. Take swimming trunks just in case. Got pool but never used it last year. Last day they give a demo for us to watch. Boys need black tights/leggings and white leotard. If your dc want to talk to my ds they may, he will tell all and look after them there.
  10. That is Sarah Mortimer, 3rd year student from Ballet West.
  11. Ballet West students had assessments this weekend and turned it into a show in Oban. Friday night 1st and 2nd years, 11 performances. It was that good it was suggested they go on tour! Johnathon said its the best performance 1st and 2nd years have given. Ballet, contemporary, irish dancing, jazz and singing. Well done. 3rd years, well Romeo and Juliet was about 20 mins long and was beautifully done. Pdd so elegant, singing out of this world and the Mad Hatters Tea Party piece (Royal Ballet) was good, pity her tail fell off but carried on as if nothing happened. The dance with the chairs and 8 girls was brilliant, the strength they had lifting themselves from a seated position up on 2 hands. Next was curtain covering top half of girls just showing legs and pointe. Brilliant with a bit of humour. Ballet and Contemporary was lovely. such strong boys. Tap was spot on and so professional. It was worth driving up to Scotland. Wouldn't have thought it was part of their HND and final year assessments. Wasn't expecting such 2 good performances. Brilliant well done BW.
  12. Ds and dad thought it was absolutely brilliant. Ds wants to go again! (Put dd, dear dad lol)
  13. My son is in his third year as a JA. He has performed in Alice twice, Prince of Pagodas, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake with Royal Ballet and Don Quixote with the Mikhailovsky Ballet at Coliseum. Got into White Lodge. He was getting bored doing grade work at a very good school he went to and I don't know if he would of carried on but at RBS he loved the free work and got him interested again. So I would say without JA's my son wouldn't be going to WL in Sept.
  14. Its the free work which a lot of ballet schools don't do which is a benefit.
  15. Your welcome all, just good to be prepared even though I am sure your DC will get 3rd year. Most do! Good luck!!!!!!
  16. My dd knows its not a guarantee but is looking ahead just in case. She is not oblivious to the fact she may never get a job, there is always someone out there better than you, thats life and she has taken that on her chin. Her worry is at the end of all her training she needs a job and doesn't want to rely on us. Where she is she knows she will have her BA Hons and teaching certificate so she can teach and go to RAD and get more qualified depending on what she needs and would have done her Solo Seal. She is still in her first year but looking into RAD. her folder is full of options. She will also have one more year SF to use if need be. Believe me she has it all planned for her 3 year course. She knows the best in ballet will get jobs. But she first and for most wants to be a ballerina. I did worry for her because I see students in Covent Garden at Pineapple auditioning for work but dd seems to be organised and what happens will happen for a reason. Basically she did worry for the future and now has a plan. I hope this helps others to think 'well what if dd/ds doesn't make it what is our plan of attack'.
  17. My daughter used the words worrying. She didn't want the worry for 2 years not knowing whether she get in 3rd year so she decided to stay as BW and definitely get her BA Hon's. Two of her friends at Central were held back a year saying they weren't ready as well. Couldn't understand as they were better than some. Hopefully they will get there in the end.
  18. Yes they are just finalising paperwork. They changed universities .
  19. Ballet West are doing BA Hons. Its a 3 year course and you don't have to audition after your second year. I think that is unfair to the students at Central and worrying"( Good luck especially to HB!!
