Just to confirm, I’m not sure if I’ve read the email correctly, for girls year 7 intake auditions it will be a session either on Fri, Sat or Sunday and not all 3? As the email says Friday, Saturday and Sunday not or. If I’m incorrect and it is all 3 where would you be able to book a hotel?

My understanding is that it will spread over those 3 days as there will be a good 70+ girls. I’m sure they will confirm soon exact day/ time for your child. I think they are all waiting on Monday’s announcement first to check schools deffo can open xx

My DD was supposed to be at WL for a workshop in The November lockdown, we booked the Premier Inn in Richmond but their kitchens/restaurant was shut. The workshop was cancelled in the end so we didn’t go. However we stayed there for finals last year and there is a big Sainsbury’s around the corner so you can buy food and perhaps order takeaway to the hotel 🤷‍♀️

How far away is the Sainsbury’s from White lodge? I’m

panicking about needing the toilet after a 2 hour drive and then waiting for Ds in the car for potentially another 2 hours!!! And not being allowed in the building! Lol

Phoned 119, again, very helpful but saying the same as others have been told. If the school are inviting people in then they need to be the ones ordering the tests and administering them onsite. Which apparently they can do - there shouldn’t be any barriers to this as it’ll be the same tests their own students and staff use, they just need to order extras.

    Urgh!

My DS is only 10 and our local secondary schools aren’t testing students, only staff. :( I think it’s going to be Zoom for us (DS will be so deflated with that).

Have you rung RBS to quote what you were told by 119 and how they should be testing on site?

Of course and I totally accept what you’re saying but I’m not sure there’s another solution except a Zoom final. I think if everybody is struggling to source tests and is contacting WL about it then the final will likely be moved to Zoom anyway just to avoid the stresses. Which will be gutting for the kids. I would rather DS were able to go and visit the school and actually see the place where he is applying to.

And so would I but not all our councils are doing them for under 18’s so RBS need to be fair. I would love my son to go but he can’t if we can’t get hold of an LFT. Just another situation that has Covid to blame yet again ... it’s ruining so many important milestones ☹️

Lol, that is what I told them.

I am amazed as to what we are putting ourselves through as parents because of the prestige of a name.

This is when you question which school is right. Will they always expect us to jump through hoops? The email from Elmhurst was very different . I never thought the biggest worry of the finals would be sourcing a LFT !!!

So now definitely the 12th? I’ve emailed this morning to ask about when we will find out dates and times too. I really hope you can all find a solution to the testing. I re-read the email earlier and it did just seem to suggest that if you can’t get a test you have to decline the audition and they’ll find an alternative means to see those children which will be so disappointing for them! :( I can see it from both sides as RBS’s hands will be tied too.

Yes it must be really difficult. However I think the RBS have a pretty good idea of who they want anyway just from the videos tbh. So even if you had to do a zoom audition etc it wouldn’t have a massive impact .

I spoke to them and the the auditions for the boys for year 7 will be on the 12th and they do not have a solution and are not allowed to test children that are not currently their pupils.

This is becoming a nightmare ! So it’s definitely the 12th for boys? So we have to try and get a PCR test done on the Wednesday with the hope the results are back by Friday morning.... this is ridiculous

Thanks for all the information guys and for posting your experiences it’s so helpful. I’ve booked my DS’s Covid test for the 10th but do have the option of moving it to the 11th if we need to. I think I’m going to email RBS tomorrow just to see if they have a rough idea of when we will know their timeslots so that we can arrange childcare etc for other children and overnight stays etc x

When you booked it did you tell them he is under 16 and not eligible as doesn’t fall under key worker? If do what was their response?

Yes, they can wear anything but I think we are sticking to the JA uniform for consistency and it is similar to the year 7 uniform I think.

Yes, not a lot of choice out there for boys.. my ds wore white Leo and black shirts for the video so will either wear that or JA.. though he hates the shorts!! 🤣🤣

  11. All about well being I would imagine. Why do they want to go there? What they will gain from it? Will they miss home? Blah blah. Basically practise your answers so they don’t blurt out something totally embarrassing 🤣🤣🤣

My dd is still waiting for a congratulations from her teacher nearly two years after she got her ‘yes’ letter! We see her all the time but she’s never been able to bring herself to say well done and it’s never been publicly acknowledged within the dance school.

    😯😯😢

Thank you! Could you offer any advice? My DD has been offered WL finals,Elmhurst finals & offered strong with funding...her school doesn’t support vocational training or any associates, when is the best time to inform them ?! When we know results?!

See, I just don’t understand why schools don’t support this or wish to see their students spread their wings and progress.. it totally baffles me!!

Firstly are you 100% going to take an offer if you receive one? If so then wait until she has received it and then let them know.

However I would prefer to know before auditions just do I can advise students/parents etc but understand if a dance school makes this tricky then there isn’t much you can do. I feel for you, and hope your daughter is successful!! Such a shame she hasn’t had the support through this horrendous process 😔

DS had a place for year 5 but then got JAs in London so could not do Elmhurst though he would have loved to and had started going for a couple of sessions in June of year 4.

Your lovely ds has done do well with all these offers and finals!!! Going to be a headache deciding on the best one as I’m sure he will get in to them all xxx

There does seem to be places you can buy them but I was thinking surely taking one at home and inputting the result online sounds really dodgy. So dodgy that I’d probably find out it’s a fake test, fake proof and we’d be turned away at the door. I’m definitely going to be having nightmares about this now. 😩🤣

Who would have thought all those months ago when first applying out biggest nightmare would be a lateral flow test!!! I mean when did they even become a thing 🤷🏼‍♀️😂🙈
