  1. Indeed...I was just about to post the same link. I think those of us lucky enough to be going to this coming Saturday matinee are in for a treat!
  2. For me at least, there are currently no individual seats showing as available to choose from the seat plan for the first 3 nights...the only option is to let ROH choose for you. Not a very customer friendly way to sell more seats! (Out of interest only as I don't plan to see this double bill anyway)
  3. Indeed. I really don't want to keep building up my Credit balance at the ROH for this reason.....😬 (Meaghan Grace Hinkis sort of flagged this up a few days ago on her IG page when she referred to some big news on the way, followed by a Spanish dance emoji...)
  4. Oh dear...poor Akane, yet another injury. I did wonder if she was OK after she missed her last performance in Japan this summer.☹️
  5. The most enthusiastic audience I can remember at the ROH.. matched by the enthusiasm of the whole cast. Some fantastic performances... Nela and Vadim on fire from the start, Mayara and Ryoichi brilliant, and some lovely debuts(?) e.g. from Annette Buvoli as Queen of the Dryads, Sae Maeda as Amour and Mica Bradbury as lead Fandango lady. Beautiful dancing from the Corps in the Dream sequence. Rounded off by Carlos Acosta being reluctantly dragged on stage at the end to take well deserved rapturous applause! Well worth the 2hr car journey to get there....
  6. But there are two sides to the pay dispute. We can't assume members of other unions, with their own settlements agreed, necessarily back the orchestra as opposed to the ROH, or that they would be in a position to strike as well, contractually. Meanwhile we are told by both sides that negotiations are continuing.
  7. Charlotte Tonkinson and Ashley Dean are another pair of Friends.
  8. For tonight's 23/34 season opener, IG shows Mayara Magri as Mercedes and Ryoichi Hirano as Espada 🙂🙂
  9. I wouldn't say that. The Stage article has a lot more depth than the brief slippedisc one. The latter says that a strike is just a matter of timing, but no such inevitability is referred to in The Stage. The Musicians Union statements quoted in The Stage just say they would be fully supporting the orchestra if they move to strike action. The ROH refer to the Union rejecting a pay settlement backdated to last September that has been agreed for all other ROH staff. Both sides confirm negotiations are continuing...so let us hope agreement will be reached.
  10. I'm just seeing Gary as Lorenzo then (apart from possibly as Don Q at the Cinema on the 7th Nov). I must say I prefer him as Lorenzo, rather than Don Q. For me (borrowing from another thread) Christopher Saunders has been the "definitive" Don Q to date.
  11. Unforunately as @Bluebird has pointed out elsewhere, it seems that the feature has yet to be properly sorted out, as various earlier links only go to the dreaded "Error 500".
  12. Pleased to notice a good feature of the ROH Website...the bottom of the Cast Sheets page includes "Past Cast Sheets", currently linking to the full cast lists for 21/22 and 22/23. https://www.roh.org.uk/about/cast-sheets

  14. Thanks Stevie...that is exceptional value; just slightly miffed that I recall paying much more a while back just for Orpheus and Eurydice ! Still, the other two discs must be well worth laying out another £6.77.
  15. In another cast, Mica Bradbury also looks to be one of the two Friends but I don't know who her "sister" Friend will be in that cast.
  16. I think I have said this before.....I can't see any serious cause for offence with Fille, and the ROH must feel the same, otherwise they would not be streaming it.
  17. Looks like Sae Maeda and Sophie Allnatt will be dancing as Kitri's friends.
  18. From various IG posts, it seems that Marco Masciari is performing as Sancho Panza to Christopher Saunders' Don Q, with Annette Buvoli as Dulcinea (so doubling up on her roles)!
  19. This is an unusually detailed message about the reasons for a cast change, and anticipated recovery etc....very welcome for concerned audience members. It would be nice if such explanations were the norm, but I suppose this will depend on how much information the dancer concerned wishes to share publicly.
  20. In mentioning, during the Insight, his 3 other colleagues playing Don Q (Gary Avis, Thomas Whitehead, and Bennet Gartside) I was reminded what brilliant character artists the Royal Ballet is currently blessed with. They really add extra levels of depth and enjoyment to the ballets in which they are cast.
  21. That change was the main problem for me, as I love the RB Act 2 PDD and music (despite it being imported from La Bayadere). Anyway, between us we can be happy with our respective versions Jan!
  22. Also I would like to say that the I think Royal Ballet dancers are very fortunate to have Christopher as Rehearsal Director. His 40 years experience with the Company must be invaluable, and his Insight rehearsals are always so enthusiastic and instructive.
