  1. Yes, they get re used, and no, no charge to parents for costumes.
  2. Have a wonderful induction day tomorrow everyone ... I have absolutely no doubt that the show will be AMAZING!
  3. Definitely no aerosols of any description ... I think it's something to do with the fire alarm system!
  4. Yes, this has worked for my dd. I took dd to our local sports physio practice as and when she felt the need ... could only fit it in every few weeks when she was back at home from school.
  5. Gazelle, two suggestions, speaking on a little experience of this very issue ... session with a dance physio/body conditioning person to look closely at how she is working and offer corrections/exercises in the event that she may be over reliant on strong thigh muscles. Secondly, a good all over sports massage on a fairly regular basis.
  6. Congratulations to your dd Choccy ... wonderful news! My dd used to love her mids classes in b'ham.
  7. I forget how nerve racking all the waiting is, and how time seems to pass so slowly when you're waiting, and how one glares at the postman as if it's his fault that there is nothing in the post when you're desperate for news. However, my tummy is starting to churn already at the prospect that in a few short months we will be going through the whole nail biting process all over again to try and secure a much coveted 6th form place!
  8. Last year, further details came by email on 16 may, so could be anytime soon.
  9. Wishing your dd the very best of luck.
  10. Encouraged, do you know for which year group?
  11. It may be a funding thing ... We had to turn down a year 7 place for this reason a few years ago pretty late in the day when we realized we were defeated! Also, maybe a few have given notice on return from from Easter holiday as a terms notice is required. Who knows.
  12. My dd has only done ybss once before, when she was 12. She is now 15 and training at uk vocational school and has been offered two weeks this year. These are the only two occasions we have applied to ybss.
  13. Afab, it is a shame that the junior summer school at Elmhurst is only 3 days long, but I'm confident your dd will have a great time. The facilities are fantastic, as is the teaching.
  14. We also had an email yesterday following scholarship audition on Sunday, no scholarship, but dd has been offered two weeks. She did ybss for one week a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. Think she's looking forward to it even more this time as she is a couple of years older and will know quite a number of her peers there.
  15. Sorry Ribbons, misunderstood you.
  16. Ribbons, I'm not sure that's the case as I have today heard of one 'no' following yesterday's scholarship audition.
  17. Have applied for both weeks at York for dd.
  18. Slightly off on a tangent, but my dd used to swim competitively when she was around 11/12 and as a consequence she ended up with very well developed, albeit incredibly strong, thigh muscles. As such, she came to rely on those strong thigh muscles a little too much and has had to learn to work differently in ballet to ensure she uses the right muscles for the right things. Just a watch out on the swimming.
  19. I remember my dd saying that not only does a bun make her feel like she's properly ready to do ballet and feel like like a ballet dancer, she also said that a well placed bun in exactly the right position helps her to feel better balanced. I've known her redo buns several times in the past because it wasn't in quite the right place on her head!
  20. Swanprincess, so sorry about elmhurst ss, I do hope you are successful with your other applications. Good luck.
  21. Yes, my dd is for the older group.
  22. Fingers crossed for you Swanprincess ... sorry you haven't heard yet?
  23. Dd will be there too. Well done to everyone with a yes and good luck to those still waiting.
