  1. https://slippedisc.com/2023/03/why-are-covent-garden-first-nights-often-so-glacial/ Ouch! I really hope I don’t agree tomorrow night!

  3. Love the reviews so far. It sounds like this is a perfect ballet to take children to - I am sure they would enjoy the pantomime antics.
  4. Has anyone made a complaint to ACE about the impact of the lack of funding? I am starting to wonder if the pricing survey is perhaps evidence to show them the impact of the cuts... Maybe just wishful thinking
  5. For those of you going this evening please share every last detail - and hope to see photos soon!
  6. I would strongly recommend clicking into each individual date. Easter Monday (matinee and evening) shows swathes of red and pink available seats.
  7. @Fonty I do hope you have written to Alex Beard to convey all of this. Although we know that the ROH does need to cover a certain amount of cost that they cannot cover at present with their philanthropic support, I do wonder if Alex Beard is simply so out of touch with his audience that he can't recognise it. There is definitely an unwillingness to adjust costs to test whether this helps to sell seats - which would surely be more beneficial than simply giving seats away at the last minute (which may be responsible for the recent shift in tickets this week) .
  8. I thought it was unlikely to change given that Sleeping Beauty continues in May... Still worth getting a close up so she can see the detail on a tutu! @li tai po and @oncnp thanks for flagging the other displays too! Will at least see the ones by the downstairs cafe!
  9. As an aside, I am bringing a group of people including someone in her first year studying costume making. Does anyone know if the Amphi displays are still for Sleeping Beauty or if they have changed to reflect Cinderella?
  10. 2 things. 1. Glad to see there’s been some movement in terms of tickets for the first few days but still lots of pockets (which has meant that I was able to upgrade my seat for Wednesday with friends to one just infront which I am much happier with) 2. Pricing aside, as the people most likely to be booking ballet in the first place, I wonder what we might be able to do within our own networks to help.
  11. Absolutely agree with this. Watched on my tiny phone screen and was still in awe of the height of his jumps - he sailed across the stage. I couldn’t face staying up to watch it all because of the time change and the late hour! Thrilled to see that he won!
  12. I think families will be more inclined to book the more affordable Cinderella on this season....
  13. I wonder how The Ashton Foundation and Wendy Ellis Soames are feeling around the new production.
  14. booked for 29th and 30th and didn't receive. No intention of returning and rebooking tickets but would have bought another ticket and choosing not to as a result. It's not right that they are giving benefits to some Friends and not others.
  15. But of course they are both performing Swan Lake this season.... This particular thread is incredibly rich in terms of understanding the motivations of a committed audience and our thoughts on - other than price - why the ballet isn't selling. From that perspective, I do hope that someone at ROH is 'listening in' on our conversations or at least investing in some social listening tools.
  16. You would think that the companies would speak to each other and work ensure each others’ survival. ROH is focussing on the legacy of Ashton, but I wonder how much this means to new audiences, if anything.
  17. It's not. I've booked a stalls seat for Thursday and have not received the offer - possibly because i could have booked it for less. However, it fails to recognise that I might be able to get someone to join me if i could book another seat!
  18. I wrote to say as much. Alex Beard responded suggesting the issue was driven by transport strikes among other things. My bugbear is that if they end up selling tickets well below face value they will be worse off than they could have been if they had found the sweet spot pricing wise. This all given the fact that Sir Lloyd Dorfman cited in his Times interview a number of months ago that they need to be 95% sold to break even.
  19. I have booked tickets for 2 of these dates but miffed to be excluded as was contemplating taking my daughter on the night I was due to be alone if there were any offers. I don’t understand why Friends offers don’t go out to all.
  20. I know that it's not usual to comment on the general rehearsal from a performance perspective, but will the moderators allow any mention of set design and costumes? Not sure I can wait til next Wednesday and it seems that all creative assets have been very closely guarded by the company! Also unsure if it's been covered further up the thread but I wondered if the lack of teasers is perhaps connected to the ownership of the ballet and what decisions Wendy Ellis Soames may have taken personally as to how to remount this ballet. I can't even quite remember what we might have seen connected to The Dante Project premiere.
  21. I keep on having this problem too (across at least 2 booking periods) and spoke to the people I had done a website focus group with. Their only recommendation is to use an incognito window…
  22. Sad to lose a BRB favourite of mine but what an incredible opportunity! Hope the podcast can still continue despite the longer distance between Brandon and Julia.
