  1. Hiya

if she’s at Vocational school, isn’t there a list of what’s required ie: make and colours? I’d start there first! Both schools my dd was at had a list I’m sure!

  2. I don’t think you or any of the last few posters have been harsh at all, you’re being realistic! And I totally agree with what’s been said!
You say your dd gets 5 hours training a day, you won’t get that in yr 7 here, plus they go right back to basics no matter which school you go to, so I personally think your dd would be bored!!!!!
Sounds to me like you have the best of both worlds, home schooling and loads of training a day, wish we could have done that here in the uk! I think there would be a lot more happy dancers still dancing instead of giving up because of the vocational schools they attended 🤣

We’re lucky, we finally found a caring and nurturing college that has put our dd back together again after going off to ballet school at 11!! 2 vocational schools and a fabulous college later she graduated 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t be more proud of her achievements of coming thru it all and getting back her love of ballet 💗

  3. I think for a start, you’re going to have to give e a terms notice anyway! So maybe during that time things could improve and also with the big Christmas production coming up (I’m guessing which school this is!) that might lift his spirits with all the excitement of that! On the down side. with all the long rehearsal days they are going to be so tired and emotional, that certainly isn’t going to help him.

If it were me, I would be visiting at the weekend, even if only to take him for tea! It’s so hard I know! At the worst time in my dds first school we would drive for 6 hours on a Sunday, every Sunday, just to take her for tea, it helped her get thru the week. She had no one in the school to talk to, not even staff would listen, so just having that contact with home helped her thru it.

  4. I agree with meadowblythe, dd had a terrible time in her first school, not that it wasn’t that she didn’t want to dance, she did, she was desperate, but it was the other kids and the staff! Changed schools in yr 10 and In her second school we used to go every weekend on a Sunday to take her for tea (although it was frowned upon to go every week!) we knew that that was what was best for our child. She needed healing time from the previous school, and she just needed that contact to get her thru it.

  5. The only way I’ve found is to go right thru the satin instead of making it neat on outside!
We’ve tried other shoes but honestly these are the only ones that work for our dd. She has wide feet but very narrow heels and she has no problem going thru the shoe to Demi and then full pointe 🩰

  6. We also wish we’d have kept dd at home and attended weekend classes at the fabulous dance college she is at now!
Our dd got into JA’s year 4 and had 3 fabulous years of classes building her confidence ready to go away at 11! Then she had all that stripped away in the next 3 years 🥲 The following 2 years at another voc school we stood still and it’s only these last 3 years (this last year in particular!) that she has flourished and found her passion again at the amazing college she is at now! So much so that she’s gone back for another year in the hope that the industry gets better these next 12 months. 😁 But the scars are still there and I don’t think will ever go away 🥲
