  1. Ahhhh Hammond, still miss Hammond! What struck us coming from another vocational school was, how happy it is! DD said they even sang going from class to class in the corridors when it was show time! And the whole school warm ups in Theatr amongst the seats and on stage! And their performances were amazing! Still say their version of les Mis was the best we’ve seen, brings a lump to my throat! Ahhhhhh happy times 💗

  2. I would definitely try the following:

    Malvern ballet Seminars

    KS Dance - Warrington

    Hammond - Chester

Bristol Russian - loved this one, different as did Russian Character as well as ballet and pas de deux (can’t remember if they did contemporary!

And if looking at next year (COVID and money allowing 🥺) Dar Danse in Morocco - our absolute favourite 💗

    Hope that helps 💗

  3. Good luck to anyone auditioning at KS Dance in Warrington on Sunday 🍀

And can I just say, take no notice of the surroundings - it’s not about the buildings, the plush studios, and facilities it has. Or the fancy boarding facilities with all its mod cons. It’s about the people, the teachers and the way your DD’s and DS’s are treated in those buildings that matter.
Good luck, dance your best and enjoy

  4. Hiya

I’ve just seen this on Facebook so copied for you:

The Freed of London Covent Garden store is remaining closed due to the recent lockdown in the UK.

Mail order and virtual fittings are still available by emailing us at shop@freed.co.uk

    Stay Safe and Keep Dancing!

    Hope that helps 💗

Although there are several JA centres around England I don't believe there are any in Wales or Sotland.  Lots of people may not be able to commit to attending JA classes regularly either, so there is a pool of young dancers who have not been seen before by RBS.

We travelled from North Wales to Manchester every week for 3 years and only missed 1 class in all that time because dd was ill and that was travelling on a Friday or a Sunday each week, missing school in a Friday to attend. We travelled thru blizzards to attend one winter because dd didn’t want to miss her classes 💗

  6. Couldn’t agree more academically. Dd is not/was not academic! Previous school she was left behind, no help at all. Only extra classes laid on were for the more academic!
Unlike Hammond, where they went out of their way to help the less academic. Even laying on extra tuition early mornings for GCSE years! And the children WANTED to attend in the morning before normal school started!
I remember one of the teachers saying at a school meeting one time ‘you’ll have to carry me out in a box before I leave here I love teaching these kids so much’. And it showed in their results.

    Fabulous 💗

  7. This has just made me smile 😁

I can vouch for all the above! My dd loved walking into Chester of a weekend with friends.
There’s also the famous Christmas Carol Service at Chester Cathedral each year! The Cathedral is always absolutely packed out (and it’s not a small  Cathedral either!) the singing is absolutely amazing!
And of course there are the Shows! Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about them! Superb!!

  8. I have to say my dd loved her time at Hammond too! She did far better academic wise than her previous Voc school. And ended up with far better GCSE results than she would have got before moving! Both academic and dance teachers were amazing and cared about the students ❤️

  9. If Fridays are a problem you could consider Leeds or Birmingham, depending on where you are, which are both weekend classes. Sorry I don’t know which days they are but I’m sure someone else could help with that. Good luck with your application. We miss our JA days ❤️

  10. Hi

no it’s during school times on a Friday!

when we were yr 4 & 5 we went to school for a couple of hours then went to Manchester (were north Wales!)

Yr6 was an early start to get there for 9.15/9.30 and by time class had finished 2 hours 15 it was lunch time! By time we got back to wales wasn’t worth going into school so missed whole day! 🥺 school didnt like it, didn’t really get any support from them, but we thought it was worth it! 🥰

  11. Manchester JA’s are Friday’s or Sunday’s - weekly! (The only Centre that does Fridays!)
    Year 6 group - mornings

Yr 4&5 group (mixed group) - afternoons

    cant remember the times sorry

Fabulous teacher tho if it’s still Miss Agar ❤️
