Just to say Manchester JA’s never got asked to perform! Not sure about Leeds or Hull JA’s 😂
-
Yeh unfortunately we’re North Wales so never get anything up here! And a 4/5 hour drive just one way to Cardiff is too far! Sadly she’s too old for it now 🥰
-
Would have loved dd to have done this when she was younger! Sadly they don’t do it in Wales and to go anywhere for rehearsals would have been a hike! So good luck and enjoy all those that can do it 💗

I know when we were offered a full time place at a school our JA teacher frowned on people who took up an MA place if they’d been offered a full time place! Not that we would have done anyway!
Personally, I think it wrong to take up a place too. Leave those places for those like what’s been said above, for those that don’t have many lessons 🥰- 1

Ahhhhh that’s different then! I’d try just ballet! Theirs are definitely the best as far as I’m concerned 😁
You'll have to be quick tho as had notification that she’s going on holiday very soon!

I’d try Vinted or Depop for a cheap one.
I remember taking 2 to Malvern one year, and because no one else, or only a couple took one, they decided not to use them 🤣

I’m with Anna C - I’d just do Ballet Boost 🥰

Hope you’ve packed them out with paper to stretch them otherwise they’ll shrink 🤣

I also would opt for august intensive/exam at end rather than paying for 2 exams if not happy with result in June! I personally would prefer in-person exams 🥰

Communication is key. The worst thing is people just suddenly not coming with out explanation. If fees are not paid either then I have to chase them up. I feel that it's only fair that I do so out of respect to those who give proper notice.
I have often carried fees forward to the next term if I have been informed about illness etc, especially if its long standing loyal students. Pretty certain many teachers on here have done the same. But we can't help if we have not been informed.
I agree! It depends on the student. If they’re a long standing student, never off, and suddenly because of an injury/longer illness then I would carry forward! But for the odd illness then no, class must be paid for 😁

@Royal Academy of Dance can adults attend the vocational exam intensive?
I hope so! As I’m hoping my (then - in the summer) 21 yr old dd will be able to do it 🤣

Excellent question! Speaking from a mum to a graduate dd and a teachers perspective! Can only speak about Royal Ballet School JA’s.
DD absolutely loved her JA classes, we still speak about them today with extremely fond memories. Dd got an awful lot out of her lessons and still uses some of the exercises even now! I also use some of the exercises too as I think we both found them beneficial!
To us I think, it was about being part of a particular training programme to a particular school and their way of thinking.

Good luck for Manchester! That was our centre! The happiest times there in this crazy journey 🥰🍀

KS Dance is more Ballet based rather than contemporary! And will take 16 and 18yr olds for their Diploma! 💗
-
Yes she would be considered! KS Dance, Warrington take older students! In fact contact them incase they can take her this year! 💗

One of my students is at NSCD and we were talking about her timetable today! Including ballet! I’ll get her to comment here tomorrow (she’s still at home on Easter leave atm!) which is nice for me! 💗

We were the same! We found that if you were a high achiever academically, you got more help! Our dd came out of there believing she was rubbish! She went to another Voc school and surprised herself, getting 9 GCSE’s with good marks 🤣
Our classes I’m sure weren’t as big as they are now either!

Everyone at my daughter’s dance school uses ‘The dance shop’ in Prescott. Lots of other local schools use it too.
Thank you, will take a look 💗

Ok so dd fitted with f.r.Duval today - similar to Gaynor. Dd extremely happy with them, so next question - anyone know who else would stock them please (any further info on them would be helpful too please)
thank you 💗

Yes, Hammond do a summer residential.
Others to consider, although not residential but fabulous to do are KS Dance, Warrington and Bristol Russian.
