  1. I wish I were as brave as you... Good luck!
  2. I've liked too... Good luck!
  3. In her audition for Tring for year 8, my DD played a piece of flamenco on her harp.
  4. Hi, does anybody have knowledge about this course? Any information would be good... Thank you
  5. Very useful, thank you Lottie...
  6. Thank you all very much for your answers. They were very helpful! Following your gut feeling stroke a chord... School number 2 seems to be the right choice for her subject to their level of ballet being good enough! Cheers!
  7. It's a no for DD too. She doesn't seem too disappointed, much less anyway than for WL! Maybe being offered a place at Tring helped even though we've turned it down because of no funding and doubts about the school itself... Anyway, she has the POB to prepare for now! Fingers really really crossed as money is not a problem there! Thank you everybody for the never ending support!
  8. We were in that one too! No news here though which is not surprising if they sent us a letter! Everything else has been sent by mail! How annoying
  9. Still nothing here... Unfortunately!
  10. I find Tring's way of doing quite extraordinary, I have to say! That the school is better positioned to see who has stronger potential in what, I can understand but not telling the pupils before... thus not leaving them a choice is simply amazing! How many get over it and enjoy what they've been imposed would be interesting to know? That was one of the reasons why DD decided not to take the place she was offered there.
  11. Hi, I hope someone more knowledgeable than us can help us here. Our DD (14) wants to become a performing artist or more precisely wants to be a musical artist but as she puts it a dancer-singer rather than a singer-actor. She's been offered different places in vocational schools for next year and she has a dilemma because she has limited her choice to 2 very good schools. I should add that she's a very good dancer who can go from one style to the other very easily and that she has a strong vo!ce but has never had a lesson in her life... and she's sure she doesn't want to become a ballet dancer even though she really enjoys ballet classes! One school is ballet orientated and offers around 13 hours of ballet a week, with 1 jazz class. Tap and singing lessons she'd take elsewhere. The other one is offering 5 ballet classes a week plus 2 jazz lessons, 2 contemporary lessons, tap, street jazz, singing, theatre and Musical theatre. Her (ballet) teachers all push her to stay in the ballet route as she's young and tell her she could diverse her style later on... The non ballet-orientated school sounds very good but she's afraid of not developing her ballet enough... and I am at loss to help her! She wants to apply for schools like Laines or Northern Ballet School in Manchester at 16 or 17. Does anybody know which route would be the best for her given what she wants to do and based on your own experience? Any help would be wonderful... Thank you...
  12. Our 2 DDs were offered vocational school places both in the UK and in France and before that they were doing: DD1 (14) Mon - 2 x 1.5 hours ballet Tues - 1 hour ballet followed by 1.5 hours contemporary Wed - 2 x 1.5 hours ballet Thur - 1.5 hours ballet Fri - 2 x 1.5 hours ballet DD2 (12) Mon - 2 x 1.5 hours ballet Tues - 1hour ballet Wed - 1 hour contemporary followed by 1.5 hours ballet Thur - 1.25 hours ballet Fri - 2 x 1.5 hours ballet Hope it helps, tomuchtalent!
  13. We had the same exchange last week Dancing10! It's a never ending story! We were on the 15th of Jan for MA...
  14. It's fantastic! Thank you so much Mumofballetmaddaughter!
  15. Mumofballetmaddaughter, do you remember what the audition consisted of for entering Northern Ballet School in Manchester? Thank you...
  16. It might sound like a silly question but it's a real one for me: why would you want to go to yet another school post-19? Isn't it time to audition and dance and learn a lot still through rehearsals? A 19 one was already a dancer in my time. Have things changed that much in the last 20-30 years?
  17. The audition for Tring is still as Dancedizzy described it...
  18. Very frustrating I agree Dancing10. My DD is 12 and was auditioning for MA...
  19. Any news today Dancing10? What year were you auditioning for? My DD was trying for year 8 or 9... For LS, they sent the results in batches by centers maybe it's the same here...
  20. 15th of January if I remember right. And you?
