  1. Thanks for kind words. My DD can't stop crying :-( it was her pet, her dream come true Birtday present 2 years ago... Her name was Tutu... Hope DD feels better tomorrow and will be able to dance well and smile on Wednesday at Tri g auditions.
  2. We would prefer 10:45! DD always feels stiff in the morning, she isn't an early bird at all! Is your DD trying for Y7 as well SSapphire?
  3. Hope all went well for those auditioning at Tring today. We are off to Tring tomorrow but I have the most unhappy DD! Her beloved pet died today :-( she says she want be able to dance well and smile as she is too sad :-( very unfortunate timing ....
  4. I've received today the email with all the details, times, parking etc for 18th. Early start- 8:45am so booked a hotel as well. Just to let others know - no parking at school possible! Parking spaces available at nearby hospital if needed
  5. Just wanted to say "good luck" to the DC auditioning at Tring tomorrow! Let us know how it went. My DD's Tring audition is on Wednesday
  6. And my DD will be there on 18th as well. Hope we will receive more info soon so we can book a hotel if needed
  7. Hi Twoballerinas, I agree that the nerves are building up. My DD has her first audition in 2 weeks and 6 days time ( Tring) - that's very soon and very scary. I have no idea what to do and what to tell to myself to calm down and to stop thinking about it. My DD is fine and I can keep her calm and I'm telling her to be relaxed about it and she knows she has a very slim chance to get in etc etc. But when it comes to myself I can not relax! Don't know what to do :-( Edited to correct the amounts of days left till first audition - this is how bad it is - I must log out from the forum and give it a rest for a week.
  8. All done now! Didn't work on my laptop so I did the whole application on my mobile phone!
  9. Aaaaargh!!! I can't upload the photographs! I successfully filled in 83% of the form but then when I press "select files" to upload photos nothing happens! Help!
  10. Then I'd say it's beneficial - she will know (more or less) what to expect on the day and she might get to know some children/teachers and I think it helps to see a familiar face on her audition day. We won't go as it's a long journey for us and year 6 JA workshop was a better option for us but for those who are not RBS junior associate I think it's worth it (and I understand that your DD isn't a JA).
  11. Great DanceMuminTraining, is it for Y7 place as well?
  12. Hi Busymum! What a busy schedule! We have decided not to audition to Hammond but I hope your DD's audition goes well. So good to know that somebody else from the forum will be at Elmhurst on 18th. I'll look out for you, hope not many others will come with 7years old siblings. I have no idea how many groups of children do they see during the day but maybe our DD's will start at the same time. I have no idea when they will give as more details, hopefully soon!
  13. Not long at all! Good luck to your DD Shashee - please do let as all know how it went.
  14. Thank you both, that's very interesting ( not that it changes anything really :-) ). Anyone out there who's DC audition on 18th Nov?
  15. I just came across an old post (old balletco forum) about Elmhurst auditions and it says that auditions are recorded! I've never heard about it before. Is it still how they do it? Are there cameras in all 4 schools? (Y7 entry).
  16. Great, I agree that simple leotard is good enough, thanks for reassurance. So, anybody else auditioning on 5th Nov?
  17. And a question: do DC need a costume for their solos? It says on the form that girls need just a plain leotard and tights but DD's teacher said that 2 years ago her other student had a proper tutu for her solo.
  18. I've heard back from Tring and they said that they might have more auditions in January but they are not sure and advised to apply soon. So I've sent the forms yesterday and was impressed getting the confirmation email today with all the details. So my DD will be auditioning on Wed 5th Nov, in 4 weeks time exactly (scary!!!!) only today after class she will start to work on her solo with her teacher. I did my bit - I've booked a hotel near Tring. Anybody else will be there on 5th?
  19. Hi, I hope that somebody on the forum knows South East Ballet Scholars/intensive courses. I have just heard about it today. The faculty for The course in February looks great and it's 6 days long - good opportunity for those who want to keep up their training during February half term break. I'm thinking here about my DD who will need to keep practising IF she makes it to finals at any of the schools she's trying for. Hope the link works: http://www.southeast-balletscholars.co.uk/intensive-classical-ballet-course/
  20. As the auditions are coming up soon I just thought I'll find this posts from over a year ago. Lots of interesting information for the members who's DCs are auditioning this year.
  21. I have just noticed that the dates are on the website now. It looks like for Y7 all the auditions are in a month time 3, 5, 6 & 7th of November. Does it mean that there will be no auditions later in January? Or will there be more dates later?
  22. Don't want to start any gossip or panic re: shoes. I've heard it from exRB dancer/teacher but it just might be her personal opinion. I'll let you all know why she says so but I won't see her for another 3 weeks ish. Because nobody else have heard about it I'd think this is what she prefers simply. But she is not against split sole and canvas for RBS auditions so don't know why you were advised against it Dtadmin. I guess that at the end of the day simply no ribbons or full tights as they need to look at their feet but apart from that the shoes just need to fit well and be comfortable.
  23. Ok so there is a question about ballet shoes :-) My DD has very narrow feet and all ballet shoes look buggy on her. Now I have discovered new capezio split sole canvas shoes which fit her perfectly! But! We have been told that it has to be single elastic for Auditions (definitely the RBS) and this shoes are crossed elastics and I need to re-do them. Didn't have a chance yet to ask why is that but can anybody else confirm it?
  24. Yes Piccolo, I agree with you but it is a straight motorway drive from us and Elmhurst school is on our way before we reach Birmingham City and of course we will leave much much earlier then needed. But then I just started to worry about it!
  25. Thank you Dtadmin, so we might manage without a hotel for Elmhurst auditions! And yes, I echo Dr.f - how long may it take? Just the 1h30min class or longer?
