  1. go for it!! i saw on youtube a while back a 40 year old start pointe. After that i went to my dd teacher and asked if i could join in her next lesson. She laughed but let me.We dont have any adult classes here!I didnt look to silly as im only 5.1 and a uk size 6 and the kids in my dd class are older than my dd and not far off my height.I know all the girls really well as i teach them musical theatre.I loved it so much, but that 1 lesson was enough for me.If i lived in the UK i would definatly be doing class! Have a wonderful first lesson and let us know how it went.
  2. very much, thank you xxx I think i understand now what you are saying. If she leaves a inch between her 5th position then she will be able to straighten her legs!We always thought that 5th position must be closed tightly, but doing this leaves the frount leg a little bit bent and the back leg slightly less turned out because she cant straighten the back leg!you can hardly notice this and her teacher hasent, only us!We will give it a try tomorrow and see how it is.Her legs are only very slightly sway back and im sure its getting more,is this possible?
  3. John Mallinson is right,it looks like a student has designed them.I cant see that Nike would be so stupid to make them!
  4. Looking at it closer,it looks like they have used photo shop in the last picture!!!Maybe because they havent been made yet.
  5. I dont think they have made them yet,but on the internet it said they will maybe be released in September.
  6. seems very strange to me,but what do i know!
  7. What do people make of think of these!! http://www.behance.net/gallery/NIKE-ARC-ANGELS-(Pointe-shoe-training)/3346353
  8. Anjuli_Bai, Another question about turnout.my dd has perfect box splits and perfect frog in all ways but while standing in 5th her frount leg is more turned out than the back leg. When plieing her legs open all the way to the sides..She understands how to turnout and what it means. Also only when in 5th her frount leg is a little bent. She has slightly swayed back legs but not to much and i think she has gained this only from ballet as she didnt have it before and its getting bigger.Should she be pushing, not forcing, her turnout a little to help with strength because otherwise she cant feel her muscles working. She has only just turned 9. Thank you xxx
  9. I would love to see the consert but its to far for me!! If you make a DVD of it i would love to buy!!
  10. Thanks for that! very helpfull xxx
  11. Sorry to hear your feeling down.Im scared for the future too.I have 3 kids who want vocational schools.First one off this september and then next year and the year after!!!
  12. Spannerandpony,my dd loves that song and sang it on stage last year. Thanks for reminding me!
  13. would it be best to sing a song from a musical? And as for the acting, any suggestions??
  14. Wow! i love the harp xxx
  15. Julie 2 Milner,Well,i use to go to all the Arsenal matches when i lived in the UK also!Only lived 15 mins from the Arsenal! Its funny in my house while watching this as my dh and my boys are mad about Arsenal and then my dd and me love ballet! But we did take the micky out of the Arsenal boys!
  16. angela_stapleton Hi, I was just wondering what they actually do in the physio exam.Is it to see flexability and turnout, what tests do they do? Also you said a fairly basic ballet class, what was the most difficult thing they did?do they do jete, pirouettes or any turns from the corner. Im talking about for year 7. Thanks.
  17. Lildancer96, Does that mean that a DADA is the same amount of funding for each student?I was talking about the Mds awards,i thought that if you was lucky enough to get one you would then contribute acording to your income.
  18. I still dont understand?Does that mean the student with the lower income or the student with the higher income would get the MDS If 2 students had the same standard of tallent. If they want to know your income before offering a MDS then it must be one or the other!I thought the hole point of a MDS was tallent but it gets very strange when there is more tallent than MDS awards!I personally think the person with the higher income would get the MDS than a person with a very low income because it would cost the government less in the long run to fund a higher income family.I hope i am wrong!and they should give MDS awards out before looking at family incomes!
  19. My favorite football team doing ballet with ENB!! Dont know if this is on UK tv but for anyone who has not seen it hope you enjoy
  20. Just wondering,do all the year 7 students start pointe in vocational school? If so how much time is spent on them in the first year and then the following years. If a student had problems with pointe work in the first year would that be a reason to be assesed out?
  21. Is there a major difference in full soled or split soled soft shoes? My dd has both and i can understand the logic about full soled soft helping to strengthen feet but when my dd wears split soled soft she works through the feet much better and seems to try much more in pointing and in releves and it also makes her more confident!
  22. Jellybeans,i think you are totally right. There has been alot of talk about children who are not going to vocational schools untill 16 and they are finding it difficult with normal school then classes most evenings. And also comments about it being much more difficult to enter 6th form without attending a vocational school first.Thats why i ask.And why are most dd/ds taking lessons nearly every evening.
  23. Just wondered how many lessons a week and which classes do you need to keep up with vocational schools? It would be nice to know from both sides how many hours and what lessons your dd/ds are doing and their ages.
  24. Our international school here only goes up to year 8 and there are no other schools for us so i had no choice but to consider boarding.Over the last 2 years i had to ween the idea to my dh.He finally came around after seeing how great the school was!My eldest will be starting this September. As for my dd who wants to try for all the vocational schools, its her dream to go to one,my husband insists that she wont go,but at least i have got 2 more years to work on it.
