  1. Thank you balletaxi. We will be auditioning for Newcastle so have until September to get forms in. Hope your dd is successful in getting an audition.
  2. The photo for this application, is it just standing straight with feet together or do they need to be in a certain position. Can't find anything on forms.
  3. Thanks dramascientist. it has given her a real boost and she is even taking her DVD on our first part of our holiday to practice as we are renting a house in Scotland which has excellent floor space. Better than our house house for practicing.
  4. Well luck has it her dance teacher seems to have arranged all coaching sessions around our holidays so we can attend all of them happy days!
  5. Lots of work involved. My dds did swan lake last year and it involved 6 hour days. Little dd struggled with amount of hours involved but big dd loved It but she did coppelia the year before so was used it it. The teaching was fabulous and their confidence grew. Very proud parents in the theatre. Definitely worth the money and we are looking forward to them coming back to us in 2014.
  6. We did Newcastle in April and were told sometime in July!
  7. canvas full sole is going to be my compromise with my dd going into grade 5 and getting her first pair of pointe shoes in august.
  8. my dd has just done her grade 4 exam this morning and will start grade 5 next week. she has been told can wear canvas split soles for this class which will be straight after her inter foundation class. she is preparing to get her first pair of pointe shoes and wondered if split soles will weaken her foot. i no i have read somewhere that you should not wear split soles before a pointe class but cant remember where i saw this article. anyone have views on this.
  9. i was under the impression that everyone got an audition. i know the letters say that. good luck for the audition. my dd loved hers
  10. shes decided to give it a go. she obviously had a confidence wobble but ive watched her practice at home and she seems to know the work. her teacher left decision to dd. no come back i suppose if she failed.
  11. does anyone know whether the rad allow you to resit an exam?
  12. is the teacher approachable for you to discuss how upset your dd is? would she take on board your comments or just brush your concerns under the carpet as some teachers can teach but do not have the skills to deal with more personal issues. i feel that there must be something going on in this class if she is happy in her other class. favouritism/being left out/ignored. are there any other schools she could attend.
  13. just got back from Newcastle ja auditions and my dd is buzzing. loved it. people really nice. class easy. so anyone due to go to auditions take a massive chill pill and relax. i no for next time!
  14. sorry i was rambling after getting off the phone to my daughter who was in tears. they are 2 exams taking place withjn weeks of each other. my daughter is in the later one as we are on holiday for the first one. the pianist only comes in for one session. the coaching for both exams starts 4 weeks prior to first exam in june. we are on holiday for 3weeks and will definitely be away for pianist session and prob 2 other sessions. i think she got worried as her friend did her pianist session yesterday for her exam in may and said that it was so different and they all made mistakes. she doesnt want to move up with out doing the exam. its grade 6 and she wnts to complete them all. i have paid but just told the teacher to hold on submitting her application until we can sort out what she wants to do. ive spoken to her teacher who understands her fears. im just hoping she can sort something out
  15. anyone been in this situation. dates for dd exam means that she will.miss her coaching sessions, 4 weeks before exam including a session with the pianist as we are on holiday. shes distraught and now having a wobble whether she should go ahead with exam. shes already missed first exam session due to missing 3 months of her grade due to show rehearsals. last session is not until november when she would have been studying the grade for 20 months and im worried that she will lose interest. does anyone know if you can go to rad headquarters and do exam independently?
  16. my daughter is auditioning for the rbs junior ass on tuesday. she cant do splits either. i dont think she has the right body shape to be accepted. is that awful to think that or realistic. she is going for experience and hopefully a good test for her grade 4 exam the week after and in her words a day off school!
  17. thank you along for the ride. we are lucky as we only live 15 mins away from the centre. will you continuing on with the mid associate class? i have heard a few bits and . pieces bout the audition, froggy legs, banana backs etc. if not successful though im sure it will be a good experience and practice for her exam the week after. she certainly doesnt seem worried about it.
  18. Never, so it's all new to us. She did audition for eyb last year and was successful however I'm getting the impression that rbs are looking for a specific type of person and even body shape taken into consideration. What about you?
  19. They say 2 weeks before audition date you should get letter. Good luck to your daughter or son also on theirs too
  20. She's 10 and auditioning in Newcastle. It's the first audition. 30th April.
  21. thanks huddsballetmum. forms being posted tomorrow. it sounds fab, wish i could go. my girls are 13 and 10
  22. thanks legseleven. have spoken to my oldest who is now keen to do this summer school. waiting for the little one to decide now. happier knowing that there will be others who are maybe there for experience and fun rather than training towards a dance career.
