An email from NYB: Dancers' Development Experience - Grimsby We are delighted to announce our one day non-residential Dancers’ Development Experience in Grimsby on Saturday 3 June for Juniors and Sunday 4 June for Seniors. We are excited to open our doors to new dancers who may not have had the chance to access our activities before, as well as to those dancers based near Grimsby who have previously needed to travel long distances to access our work. Young dancers will have the chance to work together as a company for the day, honing their technical skills, developing their artistry and cultivating their creativity with members of the NYB team. There will be a particular focus on developing performance skills and all the classes will be supported by our Moving Minds work, which is designed to build confidence and resilience in young performers. Would anyone be able to tell me a bit more about NYB? Never heard of it before. So many things pop up for young dancers and I get very confused with all the names EYB LCB LJB etc etc! So National Youth Ballet, is it just a summer school? I’m guessing it’s a paid summer school? How does it compare with RB SI or Elmhurst Summer School?

My dd auditioned on Sunday (fingers crossed now!) Does anyone have experience with this company? How long do results take or how the performance works?

Does anyone know what is happening with NYB next year? I was booking a show at Sadler's Wells and noticed that there is a show in the Sundays I would have expected them to have the Gala Night.

Hi! I am auditioning for NYB in Birmingham on Sunday. I was just wondering if you could answer a few queries I had? 1. I wear glasses but never for normal class (I manage fine most of the time). I have tried getting contact lenses but as I live in quite a rural area there are no appointments for a long time. Has anyone or their children got in to NYB (or made it to the final) wearing glasses? Or should I just not wear them like normal and squint a bit? 2. Following on from that point, would I be at a disadvantage if I asked the teacher to repeat a step/sequence/exercise? 3. Finally, do you know if the preliminary auditions include pointe work? Thank you for any help you can give me, I really appreciate it. 😊

Hi, Does anyone have any experience of the junior National Youth Ballet final audition process? All the information that I've been able to find so far relates to the senior/main cast auditions. My DD has got through to the final stages as a junior but it's the first time that she has ever done anything like this so I was wondering what she should expect in terms of the format for the day. If anyone can shed any light on the process and what she can expect, we'd be very grateful. Thank you.

My 8 year old dd is about to venture off for 10 days with NYB and having tried and tried to teach her to do her own bun, we're not having much success! She might make it through the pliés but it ain't gonna hold up beyond that!! Can someone who's done NYB before please Tell me if there will be someone there to help them with their hair? I can't imagine one house mistress doing 20 buns every morning!!

Hi, Just wondered in anyone else was doing the NYB auditions this year? DD has her audition slot on 31st and is very excited about the experience. Any pointers of tips would be appreciated. She's done the EYB so i'm assuming the audition process will be similar to that - lots and lots of kids in rows, front row moving to the back after each exercise? There's no "wear this" instructions, so again assuming basic leotard and socks and shoes, not tights? Thanks in advance
