Don Q Fan Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Thanks JMcN, suits me:-) Any idea which ballet(s) they will perform in the summer at The Lowry? Would be good to know so I can go to Brum if need be.
Jan McNulty Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I'm devastated to say that I don't think BRB are coming to the Lowry this summer. We have not had any advance notice of such a visit in any of the Friends bumph and there has been nothing included in the tour details in the programmes or on line. Anyone wanting to see Madding Crowd (or the mixed programme) should book to see it in Birmingham. PS - all three casts for B&B are great but this will be one of the last chances to see Robert Parker. From the talk he gave Friends in the Autumn, he will only be around at most till the end of the midscale tour.
alison Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Please tell me the midscale tour is after the Coliseum season: it was bad enough missing him at Sadler's Wells due to the change in the announced casting. I'd hate to think I'd missed him for good.
Jan McNulty Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Alison - yes midscale is after the Coli season. The Coli is the last week of the Spring tour with midscale being in May after Munich. Hobson's Choice is only being performed in Birmingham and Robert is truly wonderful in this role. I believe you can get really good rail fares from London to Birmingham using London Midland!
Don Q Fan Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Thanks for the info about the Lowry - what a blow! I did email BRB a while back but got no reply
alison Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Thanks, Janet. Hobson's Choice is only being performed in Birmingham and Robert is truly wonderful in this role. I believe you can get really good rail fares from London to Birmingham using London Midland! Unfortunately, Janet, it's not the rail fares so much as the ticket prices these days: I was going to go to see their Nutcracker until I realised that what I had thought were their usually fairly reasonable prices were the half-price children's option
Jan McNulty Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 It's been announced on Twitter that Alex Campbell will be guesting with BRB in the role of Will Mossop in Hobson's Choice. The exact performances have yet to be announced.
alison Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Darn, I thought you were going to say casting was out (it is unusually late this time, isn't it?). I hate booking before I know who I'm booking for - I don't suppose he'll do the Thursday matinee ,,,
Jan McNulty Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Recently BRB have only been publishing the casting about 10 days - 2 weeks before the performances so it could be anytime now. It could be that if arrangements with ROH have only just been agreed they have been unable to publish earlier. You can predict the sequence of casting with BRB!
Jan McNulty Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Alexander Campbell has tweeted that he is scheduled to perform Hobsons on Thursday matinee, Friday evening and Saturday matinee.
alison Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Huh?! There are more seats available now for that matinee than when I booked about a week ago! (There *are* still a couple of handfuls of seats left for the Thursday matinee if anyone outside the Birmingham area is now keen to go). Oh well, I certainly won't mind if it's him. And not entirely related (or unrelated, for that matter): why on earth does the Hippodrome's website show photo views from positions which are virtually symmetrical on left and right?! Surely the average theatregoer can mentally reverse the picture if they need to? It doesn't seem to be the most sensible way of doing things: the Royal Opera House, which of course has far more of a sightline problem, deliberately places them asymmetrically, which gives far better coverage.
Jan McNulty Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Casting now out for Hobsons (Hobson, Mossop and Maggie) next week. Only two casts listed. alison Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Sounds good to me either way, Janet - thanks!
Ryo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Janet, Thank you so much for you to put the casting! I am most dissapointed to know that Jamie Bond is not performing Will... I have heard that several BRB dancers have been injured. Jamie is one of them.... Edited February 14, 2012 by Ryo
Jan McNulty Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 I am disappointed that Jamie is injured too. He's a terrific Mossop. I hope he is back soon.
cabriole Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 James Barton has the making of a good Will Mossop, I heard David Morse had not been well , will try to come to Brum ,a fine ballet.
cabriole Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Who else apart from Jamie Bond is injured I appreciate it is par for the course but Jamie Bond seems very fragile,

Ryo Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The Two Pigeons on 3rd of March evening is Robert Parker's last performance at Birmingham Hippodrome. He will be performing in London on the 13th of March. His last performance will be during the company's South-West Tour in May. He will be performing Take Five by David Bintley. Jamie Bond who couldn't perform Will Mossop in Hobson's Choice last week is planning his come back tomorrow evening. He will be performing Daphnis in Daphnis & Chloë. César Morales had an operation in January. He will be back on stage in early 2012\2013 season. Natasha Oughtred is also injured at the moment. Gaylene Cummerfield is off from personal reason.
alison Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 César Morales had an operation in January. He will be back on stage in early 2012\2013 season. Natasha Oughtred is also injured at the moment. Gaylene Cummerfield is off from personal reason. Sounds like quite a nasty op for César, then, if it takes that long to recover from it. I wish both him and Natasha a full - and preferably speedy - recovery from what ails them, and all the best to Gaylene, too.
