Honeybee Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi every one, fist time post! Can any one recommend a dance physio. My dd has a slightly fallen arch and needs to build the strength around her knee to support her quad muscles. We have been to physio attached to our GP, who gave great advice and exercise's But dd dance teacher has suggested a dance physio might be better for her. We live in Lincolnshire but are willing to travel.
Anna C Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi Honeybee and welcome to the forum. :-) Dance UK has a comprehensive list of medical practitioners who specialise in dance, and this can be searched by speciality or location: http://www.danceuk.org/medical-practitioners-directory/md/ Hope that helps. :-) 2
Circe Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I recommend the attached http://www.bodyconditioning.net/physiotherapy.html in the Cambridgeshire area. 1
Guest chinafish Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 This site might also be of help. http://www.bapam.org.uk/ 1
Michelle_Richer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Honeybee I’m not sure where in Lincolnshire you are I found www.barnhousephysio.co.uk through Dance UK they are a little more expensive than the Cambridgeshire one. It located to the south of the county Nr Stamford. For me I pass it every Monday on my way to class, so it was really convenient. Tulte: Where in Cambridgeshire is that Physio located ?, I couldn’t find it on her website, as I may check her out sometime, she certainly has the right background and I’m quite close to the Lincs/Cambrdgeshire border, anyway one of my classes is in Cambridgeshire. .
2dancersmum Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) I think that physio might be in Gamlingay - Cambridgeshire. I know some years ago a family member from St Ives went to a specialist dance physio there. edited for spelling Edited January 17, 2014 by 2dancersmum
Honeybee Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I live just up the road from you in Boston. I did read up on the barn house with it being so close,(It's good to know you recommend it.) But I do like the sound of the Cambridge one. Just finding time to fit it in!
Michelle_Richer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Yes I like the sound of the Cambridgeshire one too, but it looks like quite at trek to do on a regular basis, even if its just off the A1, anyway good luck, let us know how you get on if you go there. swe Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hi Honeybee Recommend Helen Eaton at Greetham Physio (near Stamford)-she is amazing with knees in particular! She and her husband have treated lots of 'names' in the sports world. She looked after dd with patella problems and a broken metatarsal. swe 1
Circe Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Michelle- yes its Gamlingay so a bit off the beaten track but certainly knows her ballet!

I went to somebody listed here and they honestly had no idea about ballet, so I don't think they check before they list them.

I believe if they have any experience treating dancers they are within their right to put their names on this list.
