annamk Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 I watched the insight streamed on this recently and from that it certainly seemed bizarre and different. It opened in the Linbury this week but as it's still in preview performances I'm just saying that's it's completely fabulous, quirky, funny, different. We all absolutely loved it. From the RoH blurb "Nothing says Christmas like a Greek tragedy – Lost Dog returns to the Royal Opera House with a new witty and irreverent take on the Greek myth of Medea as an alternative festive show." 6
Sim Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Glad to hear this. I had initially thought that Medea is a very bizarre Christmas entertainment choice! 😀😬
alison Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Thanks, Anna. I had had no idea what it was or what it was about.
LACAD Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I saw it last night and loved it! Funny but also quite heartbreaking, I’d highly recommend it. 1
San Perregrino Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 A hugely enjoyable piece. Riveting theatrical magic. Definitely not an over-clever and bloody presentation of Medea as I had feared. I won’t say anymore for fear of spoilers. 2
Henry Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 If I had seen this at 8pm at The Place with a glass of wine beforehand. I would have enjoyed this a lot. However, at a Saturday matinee, billed as an "alternative festive show" to The Nutcracker, I feel it is misplaced. Male nudity, "f-word"s, and you need to know the Medea story to follow the performance. Some of the audience left in the first 20 minutes or so.
