From the start of year photos, the Royal Ballet School has equal numbers in their third year: 12 of each.

However, also from the photo, it appears possible that there were girls who were assessed out during, or at the end of, their second year.

For the first time ever, there are more boys (16) than girls (11).

Does anyone know if this is true of other vocational ballet schools?

I don;t understand what you mean. This article is about *this year`s* graduating class, so there won`t be any attrition between now and next June.

a class that entered the school a number of  years ago and from which it appears more of the young women  have been 'lost' , whether to being assessed out , choosing to leave or having to leave/ back class through illness / injury  then the  the  number of young men lost   through the same  reasons

indeed  , it seems the piece is not  well written  - such as the comment aobut a piece chorepgrapher for  mainly / totally guys ...   seemingly ignoring  Macmillan's The Judas Tree  (  which is 13 guys and 1 or 2  women )
