Does anyone have Size 3 character shoes please?

I have checked with moderators that it's ok to post this, and it is suggested that if anyone else has something dance related to sell that they also please post here, rather than starting a new topic. I have the following items for sale - if anyone is interested please PM me and I will send pictures and further information. 1 x RAD 'Jane' leotard in black (size 1)- worn/faded but lots of wear left: £4. 1 x RAD 'Jane' leotard in Navy (size 2)- worn but good condition £8. 1 x RAD 'Jane' leotard in Royal blue (size 2) - worn but good condition £8. belts included.(on the RAD website they cost £19.50) This is the RAD leotard for Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2. 1 x Intermezzo cotton/lycra camisole leotard with gathered front and mid back, Age 10, black, worn/faded but lots of wear left : £3.50. (£15 brand new on their website). 1 x Plume soft cotton/lycra camisole body liner with adjustable back and clear straps, Age 12. As new : worn twice: £9. (£14.95 brand new on their website) 1 x Wear Moi unitard, excellent condition, royal blue velvet lycra; spaghetti straps Bottom: Black nylon lycra: £12. (can't find it on their website at the moment but think they cost around £25/30)? 1 x pair Tap shoes, by Capezio, "leather", size 3, front and heel taps, brand new and barely worn, one tiny scuff on one shoe which is hardly noticeable: £10 (not sure how much brand new - possibly around £19). Absolutely - my DD was desperate for some Gaynor Mindens, tried some on in the shop (I had no intention of purchasing but let her have a try, in the hope that she would decide she hated them or something) .... she liked them very much but the sales assistant was very helpful, pointing out that we might like to consider them once we were sure DD's feet had stopped growing. Imagine forking out for a pair, and then after a sudden growth spurt you need to buy the next size up only a few weeks later! That would be nearly over £150 I think. Anyway, she then tried some Grishkos and they were perfect. She doesn't want anything but Grishko now. (but they aren't particularly easy to sew).

A word of warning - my daughter once decided whilst on a train that her pointe shoes needed breaking in a little more. Before I could think twice, she had walloped the back of the head rest in front of her hard about 3 times, in quick successesion and with extreme violence, without even pausing to consider whether there was anyone seated in front. Luckily there wasn't, but you should have seen the looks on the faces of fellow passengers who up to that point, had presumably only been aware of a demure looking little girl sitting there with hair in a neat bun. They must have thought she had become possessed!

I've been having a clear out, and have found Darcey Bussell's Magic Ballerina series virtually untouched and in very good condition. If anyone would like them please PM me - you only need to pay me for the postage which is £2.20 second class and £2.70 first class. If this is in the wrong forum I apologise (but there is a great deal of Doing Dance in the books)!

I think it's safe to say the two runners-up will do fine. after all, Susan Boyle didn;t win.

We have Darcey Bussell's Life in Dance, signed by Darcey, saying "For Rachel". I wonder who Rachel is!

but if that so called "second rate dancer" was fulfilled and happy in her life, doing something she loved whilst at the same time benefiting society in some way through what we would call not a "decent dancing job" but through other ways,(e.g helping children, dance therapy and any number of other things) surely that is a wonderful achievement not to mention the manifestation of a well rounded individual? An individual who will also be part of the ballet audiences of tomorrow?

I love gardening - I find it really therapeutic and rewarding. Also reading - at the moment I'm in to Edward St Aubyn, and favourite place is the Scilly Isles! Not been there for a while as it's incredibly expensive to get there - (helicopters are involved) unless you take the ferry which is the most seasick-inducing vessel known to man!

In the past, Dd has always stayed on til the Saturday morning. It's too much of a journey home on a Friday late afternoon for us. There has always been a small but friendly group staying over that final night - and of course the house parents are still on duty etc.

Fiz, I know what you mean. But my DD would do what you describe - she would love to be a ballerina of course, but if it was a choice between a "normal" job and a "see you in Norwich" damp dressing room, sporadic meals job, she would take the latter every time. (Unfortunately)!

I'm not very keen on emptying out DD's dance bag from a couple of nights back, and finding 2 squashed, black bananas and a leaky water bottle at the bottom!

We had an email either the same day or the next day (can't quite remember) but it was very fast.

My DD was lucky enough to get a week's scholarship for YBSS last year - she said there was no pointe in her audition (she was 12 this time last year).

I know that they do take students who have not previously trained in the Russian system, Meadowblythe, but I don't have any info on the destination of their leavers.... someone else may be able to give you the information.

I think they will wait til after the scholarship auditions on Sunday, and then reply to all applicants whether they auditioned for a scholarship or not. So everyone will hear next week. (just my guess - don't quote me)!

I'm going to run out of "likes" if I carry on reading this thread! I'm finding it very inspiring. Like Rowan however i think DD would be appalled - even at the thought of me taking ballet lessons anywhere in the world, let alone in a school she is attending!! I am actually very very uncoordinated and would be a nightmare to teach and like Ja Sm, I am better suited to the gym. Fiz - have a great time tonight!

I live 10 mins from Tring and as far as I know Oyster cards are not currently accepted - although I did hear there may be plans to widen the Oyster "catchment zone" some time - I'm not sure whether this is imminent or not though. edited to add: Tring is a hike from Chesham. sorry to sound negative- not my intention x
