DON QUIXOTE - ROYAL BALLET AUTUMN 2023
emmarose replied to capybara's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
From their Insta posts when they were travelling in the summer, it seemed as if they were being flown out business/first class, they had their own little compartments in the plane. Also, as the company have requested them/flown them out and met them at the airport with a car, I imagine they flew them over pretty well and didn't give them a cramped seat. I'd imagine they would want to show them a lovely time, they seem excited to have them. -

The irony that I'm actually younger than Nela! -

Royal Ballet Casting for Autumn 2023-24
emmarose replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
And that's exactly the problem, the more people with eyes on it the more sales they'll get, and SM is a cheap way to promote it and they're just not and there's so many dates with so many tickets left, you could have your pick of seats at a lot of them. But they want to promote coffee? Maybe it's a larger profit margin for them and that's where they want to focus from now on...- 612 replies

Royal Ballet Casting for Autumn 2023-24

It's really quite unbelievable, isn't it? It seems the dancers themselves are better at selling it via their personal Instagram accounts than the company. They should be sharing the fan reactions as other productions do, but nope.- 612 replies

DON QUIXOTE - ROYAL BALLET AUTUMN 2023
emmarose replied to capybara's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
All I can say is that it was truly money well spent, I'm still buzzing from last night and keep reliving bits of it and I've had a huge smile on my face (through being very, very tired) What a night they gave us! -

I was thinking the same thing, what a shame it couldn't have been filmed, or even the impossible that our brains couldn't record it moment for moment. It's something that just cannot be replicated because truly it was magic seeing the stage feed off of the audience and the audience respond to the dancers. I'll never forget it. -

Weren't they just, and their standards are already so high, but my god! Ryoichi Hirano also in amazing form, it seems as if the role was made for him! -

There's a lot to say about tonight, but I just wanted to say how happy I was to be a part of that audience. So often these dancers will give us so much in their performances and it's met with somewhat polite applause, but tonight everyone really showed their appreciation for what they were seeing and it seemed to add to the atmosphere. What a night! -
It is what it is, I suppose.

Royal Ballet Casting for Autumn 2023-24

I just got the email through, I was really looking forward to seeing Natalia in this role, but wish her a speedy recovery, it's awful to be injured right at the start of the season. I do love Mayara, so that'll be special too.- 612 replies

Yes, my mistake, I was very tired from a lot of travel and my spell check showed an error and I made a mistake. Anyway, my point still stands, I'm very excited to see him.- 612 replies

I'm so happy because I booked to see Fumi and Bracewell and have the added bonus of Joe Sissons and Sae Maeda too. What a lovely cast and I always love to see Sissons, he's a standout for me.- 612 replies

English National Ballet casting thread 2023/24
emmarose replied to alison's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I have no idea what to do for seating, I've never seen ballet at the Coli, and usually go for dress for everything else there. I like the close stalls circle at the ROH, does anyone have any advice on where to sit? Are the boxes good value/good sightlines?- 191 replies

Just to add to the praise, I was there last night and it has to be one of the most enjoyable ballets. Emeralds leads you in gently, Rubies is so much fun and then Diamonds is just so rich and luxurious, it was a delight. Have to say, the company as a whole were in fine form, especially, when they would all come together, not a foot out of place, everything was so tight and not just that, they seemed to be dancing with sheer joy. It was a real treat.
-
Oh god, yeah that's when it's beneficial. I don't think I could deal with the stress of booking and having to check with others and go back and forth. You have my respect and I imagine the website really needs to be working in every way for you to successfully get through it all.

Everything crossed!

Good luck getting in safely LMM, have everything crossed the train goes smoothly!

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I check out separately. I have different windows open for each performance and then go through them separately. At least if there's a problem at the end it won't affect all of the tickets, you might be lucky with them all, or unlucky with one. But all of them in a basket together means if it all goes wrong you have to start all over again. That's just what I've found and have had no issues.
-
You could always buy the seat now and keep looking and then return that one if you're not happy to keep it/would prefer the grand tier seat? At least if you buy it you know you have that option.
-
The only problem I had was when I went to basket it was empty a couple of times, but I'm guessing that was the tickets being sold before I checked them out? I'm not sure. Otherwise very smooth, and was over the moon to find my favourite seats in the stalls circle available for Don Q 30th, so quickly snatched them up. Also the same ones for Nutcracker Fumi/Bracewell, so the gods were smiling down on me Some nice bookings, cannot wait for Natalia and Marci's Don Q, imagine that'll be fireworks. The only thing not happy is my bank balance...

The ROH booking website - what can we do?
emmarose replied to Geoff's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Ice cream can be more at other London theatres, I think last week when I went to see Crazy for You it was over £10 for two. Programmes are about the same elsewhere too, although recent ones at the ROH have been uninspired or just reused photos so I haven't been impressed by them. Champagne, I don't really drink, but was looking at getting some for an upcoming Jewels visit, I was shocked at the price, two glasses would be £32? The thing is they can charge what they want there because they know people will buy it as part of the experience of being at the ROH. I'm glad I don't like to drink!
