  1. NEWS OF AN EXCITING NEW LBC INITIATIVE After some experimentation behind the scenes, the LBC is very pleased to announce that, henceforward, it will be offering a virtual programme of ‘talks’ via Zoom. The ‘launch’ will be at 7.00pm on the 13th July when the “In Conversation” guest will be Cassa Pancho MBE, the Founder, CEO and Artistic Director of Ballet Black. The specific link to Zoom will be posted on this thread a few days before the event and everyone is welcome to join in. Other guests will be announced shortly, so watch this space!
  2. The June/July edition of The London Ballet Circle newsletter has contributions as to how they have been managing over the last few months from: Xander Parish, Mariinsky Brandon Lawrence, BRB Ginevra Zambon, RB Ksenia Ovsyanick, Berlin Laurretta Summerscales and Yonah Acosta, Munich Esteban Berlanga, Zurich Amber Hunt and Francesa Velicu, ENB LBC members can access this via https://www.tlbc.org.uk
  3. Not news about the next season, alas, but the report on Kevin's O'hare's talk at The London Ballet Circle on 9th March ( a mere three days before the last RB performance this season) might prove interesting 'lockdown' reading: https://www.tlbc.org.uk/resources/92-in-conversation-with-kevin-o-hare-cbe
  4. Unfortunately, Dance Europe did not change the notice about Anna Rose O'Sullivan at The London Ballet Circle on the 6th April to indicate that the event was cancelled. It is, of course, but Anna Rose will be 'in conversation' as soon as possible once life settles down.
  5. I know that repetition is normally against BCF rules but, since it is important to avoid people turning up for cancelled events (as happened last night for Henry Danton, despite notices in the LBC Newsletter and on its website as well as on here), a belt and braces approach is hopefully forgiveable in the circumstances. The following LONDON BALLET CIRCLE events have now been postponed or cancelled until further notice: Anna Rose O'Sullivan, First Soloist of The Royal Ballet "In Conversation" - was 6th April Visit to Dance Forward Easter Course at the RAD - was 11th April Visit to Freeds - was 20th April Visit to The Royal Ballet School - was 28th April An Evening of Words and Music with Gavin Sutherland Music Director/Conductor of ENB - was 5th May Remembering Rudolf - a special reflection on Nureyev's life and work including reminiscences, film and dance - was 18th May It is hoped to be able to resume activities in June! Fingers crossed as there are some exciting guests in prospect in addition to those above. Members are being notified by e-mail or letter but, in view of the wider interest of this programme, it seems important to post the news here as well. Meanwhile, there are some reports online of recent conversations with guests from the ballet world which people might be interested to read: https://www.tlbc.org.uk/lists/3-reports

  7. As mentioned on the LBC thread, Henry Danton, the centenarian teacher and former dancer, has postponed his travel to the UK until June and will not therefore be speaking to the LBC tonight, 16th March. [Putting this here as well because, although this cancellation was mentioned in the LBC March Newsletter, is posted on the LBC website and has been notified on BCF, enquiries about the event are still being received and it would be unfortunate if people turned up unnecessarily.] It has also been announced that Sage Dance Company have decided to cancel both the ‘In Conversation with Irek Mukhamedov’ evening on 28th March and their Every Body Dance 2 Show on 7th April. Full refunds are available from Brown Paper Tickets.
  8. Unfortunately, the "In Conversation" evening with Henry Danton (the centenarian dance teacher and former RB dancer) has had to be postponed until June because Henry has decided not to travel from the US at the moment. There will thus be no event this coming Monday, 16th March.
