This has long been a topic of conversation on this forum; the terminology used! In the past after placing on more RBS waitlists than seems possible (I shudder to recall the amounts of money spent on applications over the years for JA’s/MA’s/SA’s/WL & then US/AA’s plus then Summer & Easter courses….)
We’ve had no’s but then also ‘waitlist’ or ‘short waitlist’ & then the particularly intriguing one was along lines of ‘Directors Select Waitlist’ which sounded the most promising….Nothing came of any of these until got an Adv Assoc offer from one such waitlist after Upper School audition…but that was during Covid so it was a no go. 🤷🏻♀️
Did have one yes for an Easter course….so got to live the ‘Royal Dream’ for a few days at least (bit of a damp squib if I’m honest….but at least it’s that box ticked & I enjoyed getting to touch the famous Fonteyn Finger on the bronze statue in the hallway at White Lodge! But there are much more satisfying, enjoyable & progressive courses out there offering better qualify of training & better value for money IMHO…) Good luck to all!
(I reckon the admin might be having fun making up terms for waitlists….but am sure it’s all the same. Sure there may be a pecking order on this but also it will most likely depend on who leaves/declines place & they will offer to same gender/similar age)
@Peanut68 so interesting you say this, as many people also recommend other associates and intensives over RBS. Do you have any favourites out of the schemes you've taken part in? Thank you

Results have just come out! @Tuliprose did you apply? My DD has got a place in the junior summer school :)

Did anyone else attend the scholarship audition this weekend in Birmingham? It was my DD first time of trying. Is the audition usually this tough? She said difficult moves that she hasn't been taught before. She isn't a stranger to auditions and does two associate schemes. It was surprising but perhaps this is typical for YBS? Thanks.

My y5 daughter is excited too! Have you had an invoice yet? I can’t seem to find any info anywhere, I have emailed this weekend.
Hi! My dd has just finished 3 years of Elmhurst YD programme. She's just about to start yr7 Extended Dancers. They were notoriously late in sending invoices each Autumn term! Often not until the half term! Don't worry about it and enjoy :)

Just wondering if anyone has been offered a place from the waiting list yet?
Nothing here. Bath 1st choice, Birmingham 2nd. I know Bath is full, but I did hope there would be some movement in Birmingham 😔
-
Not yet. My DD is SWL but I haven't heard anything and also haven't heard gossip from others. I guess it could be a while yet, or maybe not at all!

@JaneDance1904 I'm pretty certain you cant be a vocational student and also take mids classes. I dont blame current students for accepting both, just in case something goes wrong with their school application or finances, and then they can't go. I expect we'll see some movement later this term when the full time places are confirmed.

My daughter was SWL year 4, a NO for year 5 and then a YES this year for Leeds. We also felt gutted last year but fingers crossed 🤞 the same will happen for her.
Thank you 🥰

It's a no for us this time (yr 5, Birmingham) 😔 I'm a bit gutted, as last year my DD was on SWL for JA and got a place at Elmhurst Young Dancers. But this year I guess RBS think she has less potential than last year? Her video wasn't the greatest, so I'm not totally surprised.... She's OK with it and loves her classes at Elmhurst. So we'll put this behind us and try again next year when 🤞🏼 auditions will be in person again!
Very well done to all those that were offered places this year, congratulations to you all 🎉💕🩰

Won’t be long now.
Best of luck to all your beautiful dancers. You too @SarahG1881 🍀

@Dancedreamerit could be a definite yes, you just can't tell! My DD only had a few seconds viewed last year and was offered SWL in a year when hardly anyone was given real places. And even a no this year might turn into a yes next year. Good luck 🍀

@In at the deep enddo you still have friends waiting on views?
They've had views now too 🙂 So hopefully there aren't many left now and we'll hear soon!

We’ve had more views today, video 2 & 3 🤔
so they have now viewed her on 3 separate occasions.
I wish I knew what all of this meant! We're applying for the same group. All videos watched thoroughly once, then each watched again for just a few seconds last week 🤔 I hope we find out soon!
-
I know people who haven't had any views too. I suspect that different centres are being looked at by different people? Our friends with no views are Bath. Or perhaps in in the order videos were submitted? They were near the original deadline for submission.....

We also had more views yesterday. They like to keep us guessing don't they? 🤣🤣
They really do!!! I've given up trying to second guess 🙃 Which year group and location have you applied for? Ours is yr5 Birmingham. Good luck!

Anybody else trying to work out 2nd views, 1 view, which video, how long? 😂 Not long until June x
It looks like we had a really brief 2nd view of each video yesterday, but analytics haven't loaded properly for those yet.
Friends of ours still haven't had a single view yet, so I wonder if it will still be a while before results are announced?

@SarahG1881 my DD friends haven't had views yet.....

Just wondering how experienced most dancers auditioning are? Starting to think we’re ‘punching above our weight!’. My daughter only started ballet lessons 6 months ago, aged 8 - Seems we may be dreaming slightly to think we stand a chance!
I think everyone is different and RBS seem to look at potential more than current ability? My DD has been dancing since age 2.5 and takes several classes a week. But don't let this put you off, as it means nothing and I have no idea how she'll fare this year! I think they look at physique, flexibility, musicality, potential and who knows what else??!! Good luck to your daughter x

I’ve had so many guesses as to why.
They’re unsure so wanted to see all of the videos.
They love her so want to see everything. They fell asleep and left it playing? 😂
Judging by last year it could mean anything!
Absolutely! You're not alone, I have no idea 😬 It literally could mean anything!!! X

We are the same
Video 1 has been viewed for 12 minutes (it’s 12.5 mins long)
Video 2 for 8 minutes 45 seconds (it’s 9 mins long)
Video 3 for 13 minutes (it’s 13.5 minutes long)
That's interesting, as we're both Birmingham yr5? I wonder if they have had the same judge looking at them? X
-
We've now had views on all three videos, they were watched on Thursday afternoon. 12 mins, 10 mins and 14 mins respectively. I don't know if its good or bad that they took so long to make their minds up?! 🤔

So, what do we think, mid June for results? Anybody still waiting for views?
Loads of us still waiting for views!

Birmingham Year 5.
Same. No views here either. I'm also pretty sure there haven't been views for Bath yr5 as well. It must be taking them ages to watch all the videos individually like this.......as opposed to typical years where there are several applicants in each audition group.

You can say that again!
Anyway, it is fairly common for children to do more than one associate programme, more so when they are older. For the younger ones, they might find the different teaching methods slightly confusing.
That's actually already happening, as her local teacher is very much from the RB background, so a few positions/postures clash between her and the YD teacher. My DD accepts this and tries to remember whose class she's in 😂

Definitely look at Sophie-Jane Harrison. She is brilliant! I cant recommend her enough. Her associate scheme is on the outskirts of Birmingham, near the airport/NEC.
