In previous years have they always said at auditions to expect results end of June?  I'm just wondering if they really do mean end ofJune!!!

I think it was more mid June last year. I’m thinking that maybe it will be next week but hoping for sooner!

  2. Daughter

    Applied for year 5

Auditioned in Birmingham for a place in Birmingham

Yes applied last year and it was a no or ‘not yet’ as I like to think of it 🤣

DD is in year 4 at Elmhurst going into year 5 in sept

  3. @spamcat going back to what you said yesterday I’m not sure how many would want to swap centres, I don’t know how they work it with first and second choices. But I’m sure you arnt the first one in your situation. For Birmingham there is a Birmingham24 and a Birmingham32 so they were my first and second choices. Really not sure what this means and have never enquired lol !

Morning all, does anyone know how many groups there were at Birmingham Fri 3rd May, DD was in group 3 and I know there was a boys group before her and a girls group after her, was there a group 5 and maybe even 6?

I’m not sure about this as it’s all the year groups auditioning in those 2 days. My DD auditioned on thurs 2nd at 230 and I know there was a group before but the group after were older girls.

You can definitely do both, I know of others who have done this.  We will have a difficult decision to make if she were lucky enough to be offered a place in Bath. I wish I'd applied to Birmingham but I didn't even know about Elmhurst until after we had applied to Royal, then her dance teacher said she wanted her to also apply for Elmhurst! Now she has got in and been to a class she just loves it. Dance teacher said it might be possible request to switch JA centre. I'm not worrying too much at this stage as I know it's a very slim chance anyway!

Yes there’s quite a few girls at Elmhurst that change into their royal leotards after class!

If your DD did get into royal at Bath then I think it’s a good option to ask about moving to Bham as they might get her in or put her on a waitlist.

@Waverley yes it’s hard waiting 🤦‍♀️ I think I’ve done quite well this year but now people are talking about results coming out this week I think I’m going to get a bit obsessive about it again 🤣

DDs audition was 2nd May, the wait is driving me crazy!!!

My DDs audition was 2nd May also. Birmingham was 2nd after Newcastle so as soon as some Newcastle people get the news we’ll know ours is imminent!

Are you not allowed to do both or do they clash?

I wasnt sure if you can do 2 associate programmes alongside each other

Hiya, yes you can do both, but @Spamcat applied for royal in Bath and elmhurst in Birmingham so that would be impossible logistically I think 🤔 although I don’t know the times of the bath JAs xx

  8. Yes it’s a lovely place and they all seem to really enjoy it there. This Saturday we won’t be there, it’ll be the first lesson my DD has missed which is good going but there’s a dance competition we need to go to!

I think it’s a really good idea to do the classes before they start in September, get  them nicely settled in! I was really excited about buying all the uniform lol! Sad I know 🤣

@Spamcat so if your DD gets into royal she can’t do both? I guess not.thats a shame, so depending on the results you may have a decision to make shortly!

im not holding out much hope for royal for my DD but its always best to go for it as you just never know! xx

  9. @Astrid thank you, you too! Yes my DD loves elmhurst! They do a viewing class at the end of every term and it’s clear that the teacher makes them feel really special for being there, it’s lovely. Were you there on Saturday? As I know some of the newbies were having introductory lessons x

  10. Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and have been reading this thread. My DD is a year 4 JA at Elmhurst. She auditioned for Royal Ballet JAs at Birmingham and whilst I think she’s forgotten about it, I’m eagerly awaiting the email!
