Wow, yes that's her, although hair is lighter when it's not covered with a can of hair spray. I remember your DD too think she was in black with blonde hair. Saw your earlier post about her being small and did wonder if that could be her.  Fingers crossed for everyone 🤞 x

Yes,  small but mighty in black.

She stands out, because she sort of always looks like she’s gate crashing her big sister’s classes. 😂

How funny ExpatB my DD was 89!

Your daughter had a purple / dark lilac leotard.

She has light eyes, dark hair in a simple single bun. She’s much taller than my own DD. ❤️

    Good luck to us all!

Congratulations to all the yeses so far and sorry for the not yets. Hope the rest of the results are out soon.

Last year I recall them skipping over the Birmingham results. Results for the 1 day auditions seemed to come out before Birmingham which is 2 days. Having said that Birmingham auditions last year weren't as early as they were this year.

The order of cities was as follows. So if they’re doing single days first it’s definitely Eastleigh next. If they’re doing it chronologically, it’s Birmingham.

    We’ll know soon.

Now I’m starting to sweat. We were in Eastleigh, I thought I have a few days.

    Newcastle

    Birmingham (2 days)

    Manchester (2 days)

    Eastleigh

    Leeds

    Bath (2 days)

    Totnes

    London (4 days)

    Dundee

Whoa, would that put Eastleigh next?!?

  5. Son or Daughter? Daughter
    Birthday? July
    Year applied for? 5
Auditioned in? Eastleigh (we were traveling for half term so couldn’t go to the London ones)
    For a place in? London
    Second choice? London
Applied before? Yes. Last year. No luck.
    Any other centres? No

Any other info? Not feeling confident. She’s very small, I mean tiny. She gets mistaken for Reception age children. Not good for line-ups..... But I’m hopeful.

  6. I gather that overall they take less than 10% of applicants. Their yearly report stated the number of applicants each for year.

Boys seem to have a higher chance of getting a place, and London is the most competitive, with the least chance of getting accepted.

So basically London based girls have it the hardest.  As a mother of a London based girl, I feel your pain.

So you agree they really can't tell whether a child has/hasn't got it in a few minutes.

I think they can tell if the child has what they’re looking for there and then.

But they don’t have a crystal ball. Girls develop differently, very differently. They could lose interest as well.

In my DD's group there was 27 of them, who pretty much looked the same build and height to me.  An hours lesson seem quite short to make a big decision but I guess they know what they are looking for.

I have a good friend who’s a senior teacher at a well known, large American ballet school.

She does auditions and she told me that to the trained eye everything is quite obvious after 15 minutes, even in an audition group of 40!

They either have it or they don’t.

@Sally-Anne that is what I thought, there must be at least a chance! Well it will be interesting to see if any of the little ones on here get in. There seems to be a few. 🤞🤞

My daughter will be 9 next month. She’s 125 cm, 20 kg and has all her baby teeth.

This is AFTER her growth spur, last year she was even smaller, relatively to the others.

And she’s muscular, because she does 14 hours of gymnastics every week.

    I’ll let you know. 😂

The thing with these auditions is, that it doesn’t actually matter that much what the kids do in the audition, RBS know what they are looking for, very specific physical requirements, and that’s about 99% of it. Either you are what they want, or you are not, not much you can do about it!

Exactly! And that makes it easier to accept results as well.... for both the children and the parents.

@Astrid I did not expect to feel like this! I'm even analysing everything DD has said about her audition 😫

Don’t, she has no idea and neither do we, as parents. As long as she enjoyed it, you’re in good position. The chances are so very slim, obsessing over details is just self torture.

Thanks for your replies. Glad to hear that they do a bit of improv so they get a chance to do a bit if dancing and be themselves! Interesting about the variety of heights, my daughter has good physique/flexibility according to her teacher but is quite short so I was a bit concerned about that. We went to the insight day in Totnes but are auditioning in Bath.

My daughter is very short too. She’s almost 9 and 125 cm. Always the shortest in every group.

Our teacher thinks that’s probably why she was rejected last year (yr 3). She’s was tiny then.

I suppose London is in half term so it’s possible that some audition at other centres if they have holidays or other commitments. We’re doing London this year but it was annoying having to block out 3 possible dates and not plan any holiday events until day/time was confirmed even though they give a ‘guide’ as to when the age groups are likely to be.

    Same here.

Last year we couldn’t travel or make any plans for the much awaited half term break, because of the audition, right in the middle of the week, over 3 days.

We live in SW London near the A3, so popping down to Eastleigh was not an issue.

I have no idea if this helps or hinders.

Someone in the panel was an Eastleigh RBS JA teacher.

A more or less expected no for us, girl in London year 4.

Did anyone ever get a yes after years of no’s? Or should we not bother next year? Feels as if we should have gotten a wait list offer in order to feel optimistic about trying again...

My thoughts exactly, I wish it were at least a SWL. Oh well.

I’m a bit crushed now, but will feel

better soon. Probably after I find a new hobby to replace email reloading.
