  1. Haha! Dd has been to so many auditions! Her agent said to her she’s the perfect height! And yet she’s been too tall and too short! 😂 Even the right hair colour (blonds were dismissed after first round 🤣) and even not living close enough for rehearsals!! She’s been to open auditions and invited!  She knows she’s good enough as keeps getting to next round, and final round! But the right job has just not come up yet 😂 Bless her, I know there’s a job there somewhere, it’s just a waiting game! 🩷

  2. I don’t know how she keeps going, but she is! She is DETERMINED to get a job! And I love her for that 🥰

Her friend went off on her next contract and said to her let me know how you get on - my dd said ‘oh you’ll know when I’ve got a job, I’ll be posting everywhere!!!’ Bless her 🥰😂🥰
Ps her friend is much older and graduated a few years ago - as is said further up I still think covid hasn’t helped!

  3. My dd did the JA for a day workshop at age 7 in London in the October and was hooked! She auditioned at 7 and was accepted and started in yr4 at just 8yrs old (July birthday)! She absolutely loved her 3 yrs as a JA, the best 3 years in our whole journey - so I would say go for it. Not many are taken in yr 4 so the sooner you try the better.

    Good luck 🍀

  4. Ah bless her, growing up is horrible at that age! How about a nude coloured ‘body’ with adjustable straps! Less noticeable than a bra or similar! This can then be worn under any coloured leo or costume 🩷

Ooh, question here! Just wondering is there an order of the waitlist as well, or will they be selected randomly of places came up? First time applying - my son is 15!

Dd got WL summer school at 10! Loved every minute!

Couple years later applied again and got wait list! Phoned to ask what chances were and was told - they try and match up the children age wise, etc in the rooms so if one drops out then they have to get the same match again! So no, it’s not just next on list! All sounded very complicated to me 🤣

I’m so pleased to hear that your DD has been put back together and is back on top form.

My DS is currently in Yr9 - this process is so brutal.

Would you mind if I DM you regarding KS Dance? I didn’t realise they offer places at age 14.

My dd was at KS from 16 full time and gained her trinity level 6 diploma! They don’t take under 16’s full time, but they do have a part time school, including Associates classes which, had we known about we would definitely attended instead of going away at 11 🥲

If you still want further info re KS then yes please do contact me 🩷

  8. I had a little bit of this the other week, slightly younger tho! So I went the end of the barre where they were working and ignored the other end! After a short time I shouted to the other end - EXCUSE ME, we’re trying to work here! They soon changed completely!
I have done that with older girls, and it soon works with them too!
Teens can be horrendous to work with, it only takes one to upset things!
    Good luck 🩷

ps how much older are you to them! Some of my mid teens didn’t like it when my voc trained dd came in and taught/did warm up with them!

  9. We can not fault KS at all, they put our dd back together again after attending one of the schools that’s been on the tv! We had a big blip after watching the documentary, brought back too many bad memories, but she’s picked herself up and is on the up again! We’re soooooo proud of her and her determination to get somewhere 🩷

  10. Hello Bondmum

Workshops/summer course for a 6yr old will be hard to find!
Unless your own dance school does one for this age (I’ve done a morning one for my little ones - which went down well) the only one I can think of is Pineapple Dance, London! Or West End Workshops do various courses around the country. My dd did this where we are in north wales many years ago, she loved them but they were only a morning and not a full day for that age. Thought about Pineapple but with cost of accommodation too, gave that one a miss!

Usually the bigger summer schools don’t take til about 9yrs.

    Good luck 🍀

  11. So glad your ds is enjoying KS! Dd went there and absolutely loved it. Would highly recommend over anywhere. It’s like one big happy family, show term is amazing - have fun and enjoy when you go watch

  12. Totally agree with Peanut above! There are other schools, Colleges other than the so called top 4! Sometimes I feel that the company’s only look to see where you’ve been, to get an invite! Where as if it was an open audition EVERYONE would get a look in 🫣

  13. I can’t speak for CAT scheme as we didn’t do it as not one close to us! but if we had our time again we wouldn’t go to vocational school!

Our happiest time was when we did RBS JA’s, we still look back fondly on those times! It was what came after that nearly broke our dd and it was only finding a college at 16+ (not even one of the so called top 4!) that put our dd back together again and gave her back her love of ballet that she had in JA’s.
So my advice would be find an amazing teacher, stick with JA’s, MA’s SA’s (if you can) and keep your daughter at home

    🥰🩰🥰
