  1. Thanks Miracle - it does have to be paid for doesn't it as on the website fees are mentioned (9950 CHF) ? To me a contract is paid work - finding it a bit unclear x

From what I understand it is a bridge between school and company (perhaps a bit like the Northern Ballet Apprenticeship programme?)

  2. I'm not an expert but I would focus on more non syllabus opportunities rather than grades. During the auditions they focus on what is in front of them (the dancer) and they are expected to follow an unseen class . Technical ability, musicality, performability and the ability to pick choreography up quickly are all desirable attributes to bring to the audition - not all learned by syllabus teaching. Associates/EYB and summer schools are all good ????

  3. Hi, does anyone know how many girls may be invited to finals at Elmhurst and Tring for year 9. I understand the chances are extremely slim of a place at all but just curious how many may have been invited to finals. Can anyone recall of know? Thanks

my DD was invited to year 9 finals at Elmhurst. I recall there were 4 girls & one was accepted for year 9 entry. Good luck this year :)

  4. I'd like to say a HUGE well done to Alex Oliff and her teachers. Her contemporary routine in particular was very strong and considering she was the only participant from a non vocational background, I think that she demonstrates one doesn't have to be in VT at 11 to have  success at 16. I'm sure that Alex gained lots from participating - what an amazing experience - bravo!!

  5. Dancers have secured contracts after attending the Aud Jebsen programme at the RB and NB's graduate professional programme.

Aileen do you know if funding is available for this programme and is Aud Jebsen open to applicants outside of RBS?

  6. This post is on behalf of a non forum member whose DD will graduate this year ….

    1) Unpaid graduate positions - does anyone know of any funding available to support the dancer?

    2) Further training i.e. post grad schemes - have people found these worth the investment - do graduates who have been unable to find employment immediately on leaving school go on (in general) to find positions after another year of training.

Thank you to any on the forum who have knowledge of either.

  7. The PBB is a competition open to all dancers (male/female) under 17 who have passed ADV1 and not entered ADV2. Possibility of winning upto £1000 to put towards further training. Details all on RAD website. Candidates take class in front of a panel, dance a variation (there is a choice ) and a piece of their own (choreographed by self/teacher or peer) This year taking place at the end of March.Entry fee is £73.

Entries by end of Feb. Good luck - i think it's a lovely day :D

  8. Hi my DD is at ENBS . The boys seems to spread about in first year some stay in home stays and some at Mansion Hostel (off the King's Road) . Most at Central stay at Student's Castle I believe. The problem that ballet students encounter is that most hostels will only take at 18 not 16. ENBS are very helpful in securing accommodation before the start of the course. Feel free to PM if you need further info. Good luck with auditions :)
