What a wonderful opportunity!

I think that CBA looks at potential, as do all the associate schemes. My daughter was selected from a small ballet school (RAD syllabus) . Extreme stretching features at all auditions but is no indicator of success. Don't worry your daughter will be assessed on her audition regardless of those around her. Good luck.

Has the dancer been progressed to Senior Associates from September? If so I would say that she is still a strong contender for a Ballet based course at US. How does the dancer feel she would like to proceed - is she infact interested in exploring other styles. There have been many stories on here of children who have failed to achieve funding at LS but have succeeded at post 16. Is she ready to give up on that particular dream and replace it with one which is just as hard to progress with … no guarantees whichever route you take i'm afraid

I can't answer your question - it's a very popular SS with excellent tuition so maybe places will only become available through injury? Have you other plans if a place doesn't come up and you have declined your other prospects ? Fingers crossed that you get where you would like to go this year.

Well posting "yes" results is rather a novelty for me, so I can't resist the urge to share DD's news. She has been offered places at London Studio Centre and also at Ballet West. She's got strong feelings about what she wants to do but I've encouraged her to take a little time to reflect on things. Hopefully it will mean good news for someone else as well in the next day or two though....I would love it if that turned out to be another member of the forum.
We started the audition process with her at a very low point for a variety of reasons and I have had serious worries that she wouldn't be accepted anywhere, so I hadn't really considered that we would ever be in the position of having a choice - it's weird, lovely and horrible all at the same time!
Best of luck to those still waiting.
YAY!! congratulations to your lovely DD (and to you!!)

My DD did a week at PG in 2014. She had a lovely time and the standard of teaching was high. Mix of nationalities including Italian, spanish,Japanese and Korean. My daughter did not audition for a full-time place so can't tell you what that involves, tho I'm sure that if you are interested she will be assessed during her time there as well as the "official" audition.
The school has successful alumni including Prix winner 2015, Rine Kinehara who is now at ENB and is included, as the Company's youngest dancer, in this years emerging dancer competition.

TBH by the age of 16 self motivation is the way to go, especially if they are off to voc school. So hard to step back but a necessity … it's a hard lesson

Tabitha sorry I posted the same question twice it was done by mistake. So are you saying the students with natural ability are at a advantage ?? If this is the case working hard will make no difference in the end . Are we setting some students up to fail ??
Students with a natural ability will always have an advantage, but natural ability alone will not mean that they will succeed , you need to add in hard work, passion and more than a little bit of luck

Royal Ballet Stats are very interesting . I still can't get my head around after Five year of training some students are not up to the required standered for Royal Ballet upper school ! Do White lodge and upper school work together?? Or do they even communicate ??
The statistics make harsh reading. I think it is a reminder that acceptance into RBS at 11 holds no guarantees. As all candidates come together at 15 for those all important US places, those that weren't suitable at 11 may have matured and progressed through further training and will be chosen over those that may not (in the eyes of RBS) achieved their predicted potential. Also the female form changes a lot in the intervening years and may longer fit the RBS ideal. There are so many variables and the net for candidates is very wide. Realistically the chances of not making it, are higher than getting through. Even when you have that place there are no guarantees. Good wishes to all affected in this year auditions .

I'd like to add my congratulations to all the yes's - exciting times for those of you with a no, it really isn't the end. Vocational schools up and down the land have many DC in their upper schools that didn't go away at 11,12,13,14 or 15 - these children are not significantly "behind" and have enjoyed a different kind of childhood (all be it a dance focused one) Please don't panic , make the use of good local training, accessible Associate programmes and the best Summer schools that you can access, with a view to trying again when your DC are ready. Above all enjoy having your children close, once they're gone they have gone and life changes. Best wishes to all on the audition merry go round.

Hello know I'm the first to post results for the girls but can't help it...oh my word my dd has been offered a place at WL despite no finals at Elmhurst and an unfunded place at Tring.......it's only due to this forum that she kept going at all after her initial disappointment....I know this is just the start of a very bumpy journey but again...Thankyou ballet mums!
What lovely news - Congratulations!! and doesn't it show that they all all looking for something different x

It's always been planned for late August... every year!
So many "summer programmes" are planned before the state schools finish this year - you might find a late August one ail be perfect timing this year ….

Northern Ballet have a graduate apprentice programme which is one year ….https://northernballet.com/professional-graduate-programme

Hi Balletmummy... I wasn't planning on it. I've planned one for the last two years and had to cancel due to lack of registrations. I think there are so many worthwhile courses now during summer, that it doesn't seem like there's a need for it. However if there are people interested, I can look into it further!
If you do one late August (if it fits with your plans) I'm sure you will get lots of interest

Don't be scared - it will just be a ballet class in a wonderful studio with a lovely (encouraging) teacher. A great experience just relax and enjoy it and show how much you love to dance.
