Stirrups36 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Try and catch it on I-player. She talks about the recreation of 'Miracle of the Gorbals', and it is a classic Gillian Lynne "fire the nipples" "keep the crotch open" report - all before 8:00am! Maybe some sort of 'reverse watershed' was in operation. 1
Anon2 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I thought she was a fantastic early morning wake up tonic but had to wonder what they cut from the final piece that was broadcast.
Jan McNulty Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 This link shows most of the film but not the final few seconds that goes back to her rehearsing BRB: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29122376 She is a truly remarkable lady!
Two Pigeons Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) I agree that she is utterly terrific and we are lucky we still have her. However, I was irritated that the reporter did not say it was the Birmingham Royal Ballet ( he did sign off mentioning Birmingham). This paled into disbelief when Robert Helpmann was not mentioned at all. Still, I suppose we should be grateful that the ballet did get some coverage at all. Edited September 9, 2014 by Two Pigeons 1
WoodlandGladeFairy Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hi (first time poster here) Totally agree, always nice to wake up in the morning to ballet related news.
Jan McNulty Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hello WGF and welcome to the Forum! I thought it was a great feature about a remarkable lady. I do hope we'll hear more from you!
Marg S Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I was fortunate enough to hear Dame Gillian speak to a group in Birmingham last Tuesday. It was 6 in the evening, she had been rehearsing all day + giving interviews and all whilst competing with building noise. She was funny, warm, very informative and interesting and charming enough to give me an autograph for a stage struck (especially Phantom) young man of my acquaintance. My friend and I counted ourselves so lucky to have had this special evening. 2
Coated Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 She's on Radio 3 Private Passions right now. Definitely gets around this month...
