dancing10 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Is there anyone else going to the Spring Course at Central
Anna C Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Yes, my dd will be there - 3rd year in a row. :-) 1
dancing10 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 can you give me an insight as to what it is like please
Anna C Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Tricky as last year was different to the year before; shorter days but 5 days instead of 3, no pointework for the middle and younger group last year, BUT both years were excellent and dd loved the course. If I remember rightly there was a ballet class each day, plus Contemporary and Pilates. There was a Commercial class which was quite street/hip-hop based which was dd's least favourite as she is so balletic and never does hip-hop. Fun though! One afternoon they get to watch Ballet Central rehearse which dd always enjoys. Teachers are usually a mixture of Central's Senior School teachers and some guest teachers. You get to watch class on the final day but Central try to limit this to 2 people per student because of space limitations (although there's always someone who thinks that rule doesn't apply to them!).
taxi4ballet Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 What time to the classes start in the morning? We might think about doing it next year, but it depends on whether we have to travel at peak periods on the train.
Anna C Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Registration is 9.30 am I think; classes start at 10.00.
dancing10 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Also is there somewhere I can sit to do some work or will I have to search for a local library. lol
Anna C Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 There is a sofa in the Reception area. The school library is sometimes open for people to sit in but you have to ask. Otherwise, Holborn or Barbican libraries are both nearby. Failing that, there are Costa and Starbucks near Farringdon station, and Costa at Hatton Garden! :-)
taxi4ballet Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Registration is 9.30 am I think; classes start at 10.00. Ooh, that would be tricky then, tickets for train travel at peak time are a ridiculous price - we'd probably spend more on that than the course...
Anna C Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I know. Luckily we are within driving distance of Cockfosters!
Pasdebourree15 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I'm going too! Thanks for all the info...really helpful! 1
dancing10 Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 do we get to go in on the first day or do we have to leave them at the door
Anna C Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Leave them at Reception. :-) You get to watch on the Friday though.
Anna C Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Registration is 9.30 am I think; classes start at 10.00. Oops - my mistake - just checked dd's paperwork and registration is at 10.00; classes start at 10.30.
HannahPerrin17 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Thankyou! How old is your dd? My ds is 14 and I'm 17 1
HannahPerrin17 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Lovely, I guess her and my sister would be in the same group 1
Anna C Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Yes, possibly. Sometimes it's done purely on age but sometimes standard comes into it. We'll find out on 3rd! :-)
dancing10 Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 what do all you mums do for the long days the girls and boys are dancing?
