Victoria railway station (the Southeastern half, at least) will be closed from this weekend until the New Year for engineering works.  Trains are diverted to other termini on "Southern Region", so check before you travel.  I'm not sure what the situation is with Southern services.

There now follows an incredibly long and detailed email from Transport for London:

If you are out and about over the Christmas and New Year period, there are plenty of ways to get around the city.

The information in this email could change, so please check before you travel or use the TfL Go app to plan your journey.

For more information, visit our Christmas and New Year travel page.

Safer Travel at Night - get home safely

It’s important to keep your own personal safety at the forefront of your mind when out and about during the dark nights, and to think about your options for getting home in advance.
  • Licensed black taxis can be booked in advance, hailed on the street or picked up from designated taxi ranks
  • Only get in a minicab that you have booked via an app, phone or at a minicab office
  • If the driver and vehicle do not match your booking confirmation, do not get in the vehicle – it isn’t safe
  • In case of emergency dial 999. To make a report later, call 101
  • There are also a number of night-time travel services. Download TfL Go to plan your journey home using public transport

Take care while travelling on our network, especially after drinking alcohol

  • alison changed the title to Christmas & New Year engineering works 2023

The routes from Southern are going to Victoria Christmas week - but my route on Southern to London Bridge isn't! Darn it

As an aside - saw the old 'Orient Express' (or whatever its called now) awaiting departure when I passed through Victoria this morning. One of those things where I do wish I had more money than sense! 😉

  • 3 weeks later...

I believe this coming weekend should be the last where Victoria is closed to (I assume only) Southeastern services, with services being diverted to other "Southern Region" termini.
