I went to Cecil Sharp House this morning with my husband.  We were going to see if one of the rooms there would be suitable to hire for an event.  We met up with the person who co-organises the event with my husband, whom I have known for years.  While we were there, I mentioned that although I had never been to the place before, I remembered someone from a ballet class I did years ago talking about. it.  They used to go there for folk dancing classes.   

 

This led on to a general discussion about dancing.   My husband's friend said he was a terrible dancer, and knew nothing about any of it.  However, one of his friends from school was married to an ex ballet dancer.  He asked me if I had heard of her.  Her name was Darcey Bussell......

Funny you should mention that, Fonty.  I went to a funeral earlier this year where I got talking to a lady who turned out to be the aunt of one of Darcey's colleagues back last century ...

Seated on a train in Germany some years ago, the young woman sharing my table was sketching figures and I became interested. She worked in the wardrobe department at the Stuttgart Ballet and I was en route to watch the company.
