L'Opéra season 1 is available on SBS On Demand (Australian free to air network's streaming service) with (for those outside Oz) a VPN. With subtitles for those who need them. Season 2 is due soon.

I would beg to differ with the above opinion on the dancing. No, the actors in the leading roles are not professional trained dancers. Yes, they have done a heckuva lot of work to give the impression of being dancers. A number of French ballet-related sites (forums and blogs) have been complimentary about the overall standard of dancing, which well they might be because the majority of the dancing cast are professional dancers, not actors.

It's a wonderfully soapy drama with added ballet, thoroughly enjoyable, and there are indeed a number of recognisable characters and situations. Give it a try.

P D Q  go to Google France that’s how I got papsteram

in reply to Sophoife about the dancing  Chacun son goût as they would say at the Palais Garnier.

The plot is no so much about dancing but the intrigues and machinations that happen .

@mart I'm not sure they'd ever say chacun à son goût at the Garnier - I do think things might be a tiny bit more disciplined than that 😉

...and as I said, it's a wonderfully soapy drama with added ballet.

No problem getting on papstream with Google France, but when I do a search for L'Opera I still only get 4 totally unrelated programmes come up, the same as using normal UK Google.  Can you send me a link please mart.
