jenesaisquoi
My 8 year old dd is about to venture off for 10 days with NYB and having tried and tried to teach her to do her own bun, we're not having much success! She might make it through the pliés but it ain't gonna hold up beyond that!! Can someone who's done NYB before please Tell me if there will be someone there to help them with their hair? I can't imagine one house mistress doing 20 buns every morning!!
Balletmum4ever
My DD is also doing NYB. She is 11, so one of the older JAs, she is very proficient at buns and loves helping others!! I'm sure that many of the older girls will be happy to help if the houseparents are too busy!
Legseleven
DD agrees that at every summer school or course the students help each other with their buns. Don't worry jenesaisquoi, even if Balletmum1704's DD isn't around there will be other willing helpers for your DD. I hope she enjoys every minute!
Balletmum4ever
I just asked DD and she said that last year there were always 2 houseparents and 2-3 older students who came to the JA dorms to help those that needed hair assistance!!
Confuddled
That's reassuring - dd didn't apply this year (I felt 9 was too young to be away for 2 weeks, for her) but would like to next year. But hair is a big issue - she can't even do a decent pony tail, let alone a bun, so it's good to know they get help. Though a hair cut would help more, I think... Ms Sunshine
So happy with this! We are sewing names into the dance gear and towels as well. I thought this may help. We also had a big discussion about what she wants to wear to the Red Carpet party night. Her outfit won! We have put music on a CD for the comp and packed a dress. Think we are nearly sorted xxx
jenesaisquoi
That is extremely reassuring! Thank you so much for you replies. DD is really looking forward to it and is feeling totally confident now that she knows can get help with her bun! I think I'll get the suitcase out and start packing now! x
