Lisa O`Brien
The actor Andrew Sachs, most famous of course for playing Manuel in Fawlty Towers has died. Surely, one of the greatest British sitcoms ever made, and a beloved character he created. What a rotten, stinking year it has been for celebrity deaths. And on it continues, so it seems. RIP.
Sim
I just watched the "I know naaathing" scene on the BBC and even out of context it's hilarious! RIP and thanks for the laughs, Mr Sachs.
Jan McNulty
More sad news. Andrew Sachs was a wonderful actor. Sincere condolences to his family and friends at this sad time. https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2016/dec/02/andrew-sachs-obituary
Jacqueline
RIP Andrew Sachs. Although he did other things, he will always be remembered for the wonderful Manuel, a truly great many faceted creation of comic genius. My favourites were Mrs Richards and Manuel in mutual incomprehension - si, que, what? And the builders - you are orilly men. Too many other quotes and scenes to mention. What a legacy and a very nice man by all accounts.
Sim
I guess that these days you would never be allowed to create the character of Manuel because it would be considered 'racist' or 'offensive'. I am so glad I lived through the times when people could laugh at themselves and others with gentle fun. How much we would have missed Manuel if he hadn't been allowed to exist!!
