I was thinking that tonight, too. The ROH database says that he hasn't - unless I've got it wrong - and I thought not either but I can so clearly see him in Mercutio's costume ... He has danced Benvolio, of course.
Mercutio? Some Benvolios move on to Romeo.

According to pre-curtain announcement, Reece Clarke was out for "injury" tonight. I have a ticket for Monday matinee.....
I understood the announcement to be that Gartside was replaced due to injury, Reece Clarke was replaced. Hope all's well for Monday.

My mother was sitting next to me at a performance early in the current run, and as the curtain fell on Act 1, she said, “There is NO WAY you’d remain in full sail if you were that close to rocks in that weather”.
Yes, I try to prevent myself from thinking why didn't they reef!

I have been complaining about this for years; it has become a cliche that about 80% of modern dance works include at least one bit where someone is running around aimlessly in a circle, almost as if filling in space whilst the choreographer decides what on earth to do next. At least in Corybantic Games, that other cliche of modern choreography, dark lighting, isn't a feature.
I felt that there were many references to other ballets in Corybantic Games (is that one of the games Wheeldon is playing?) and the running round was a reference to Judas Tree.
And "dark lighting", may be not for those with normal sight, but I have a problem with blue light, so that section is effectively dark for me.- 1

Now waiting for a photo of Myrtha with her selfie stick
Not to mention the corps de ballet taking selfies as they cross the stage in arabesques.

Had to smile at the thought of family meal conversations if brothers headed the two companies.

When they gave me my replacement tickets they replaced Saturday evening with matinee. Fortunately mistake noticed and rectified while still possible.

Anyone with a condensate pipe installed such that it is likely to freeze in extra cold weather needs a boiler buoy fitted (I think that is what it is called).

I hope Laura McCulloch was given a good send off.

It's not things going wrong, it's by-play in the corps that can raise a giggle from me. With Manon coming up, plenty of opportunities there. Now we no longer have Miss Cope, I wonder who is going to be the trouser girl?

When I first began going, well, being taken, to the ballet, I'm sure I remember reading that, in Giselle Act 2, as Giselle and Albrecht crossed the stage in grand jetes, with both in mid air she threw, and he caught, the flowers. Not an easy thing to do! I can remember at least one catch, but not who, and many misses. I suspect that eventually the decision was made not even to attempt it as it could distract from the drama if people were waiting to see if it would be a catch or a miss. Was the decision made at the start of Peter Wright's production, perhaps?

Would be great to meet/ see other posters and will be at Giselle Sat matinee. Will try to get to bottom of escalator in interval but not sure how feasible from Grand Tier left B3 in a Wheelchair.. If I don’t get to meeting point and you can see me in auditorium give me a wave! Will try and do a dummy run before performance. So excited to be seeing such young talent. I have been so lucky to watch talents emerging over so many years.
Lift between Grand Tier left and Hall.

I thought Muntagirov had been first cast for Oberon - was I wrong? (I know he was injured too)
I think I remember Muntagirov saying Ben Ella was first cast and he was second cast. They each had one leg injured (so there was an uninjured pair between them, but that might have been a bit difficult to negotiate! ) Vadim said it must have looked a bit strange when the two of them hobbled up to collect their awards at RBS.

I'm going to wait until I've seen more, but so far three different Bathildes, all excellent and all so different.

I add Calvin Richardson to this list, not just his dancing but also his acting. The Royal Ballet Corps members are good at their involvement in what's happening but I often find myself taking notice of Calvin.

I found "The Intelligence Men" on Talking Pictures TV (Freeview 81) the other day. Morecambe and Wise caught up in a performance of Swan Lake, hilarity and real ballet combined.

The National Theatre has parts open to all, performance or no performance. I'm assuming it could be like that. (Do we need a separate thread for this, it's not exactly Swan Lake.)

I know someone, not in the dance world, who was offered a knighthood and refused it. He had to put up with many people saying it was a shame he wasn't given one.
