Interesting to note that Sky Arts appears to be managing to show the National Theatre's Romeo & Juliet at least 3 times this week (I gave up checking to see whether there were any more), yet never manages to repeat its dance performances - at least, not until the next time it puts them on at 7 am ...
The National Theatre has sent an email to its Friends about this. This is a premiere which has been specially filmed during lockdown, with the assistance of Sky Arts. I assume that's why it is getting these three showings

Kevin said this evening that this Friday, 2nd April, will be Symphonic Variations. 75 year anniversary.

Dream is certainly for sale on ROH site to stream 19th March, which I originally had marked for a Meet the Young Dancers streamed Insight event. Perhaps it has had to be reorganised? We'll see

It would probably be better for them if they didn't show stuff which is now freely available on Sky Arts.
Disagree, Alison.
What ROH shows on its web streaming can be seen just about worldwide, don't think Sky Arts is.
And it is the Royal Opera House/Royal Ballet specific showcase, and in HD which Freeview Sky is not. -

Oh dear, another one I got on my Christmas DVDs! Oh well, I can find something else ...
Although I also treated myself to it on Blue ray I'll be watching the stream on Friday. I like the feeling of sharing it with others watching at the same time, plus gives the RB a bit of money.

I did wonder if it might be someone who had made an illegal filming of one of the live performances, as there wasn't any mention of this on the Royal Opera House website or FB page, but I wasn't going to click on that link to find out, no way.

Such a shame but the ROH website now says that the livestream has been cancelled (apologies if posted elsewhere)
“Due to London's Tier 4 status, we must with sadness cancel all further performances and the live stream of The Nutcracker. Individuals who have bought access to the live stream on 22 December will be contacted and refunded”
And my email says they'll be streaming, for £3, Alice in Wonderland instead.

Bereft!
😢 Me too. Especially as I wasn't allowed to travel in to central London to see one of those few live shows. Hold on to your memories, Dave.
At least I'll have the Gala to rewatch on TV for my birthday.- 3

Reading Lyndsey Winship's Guardian review (lovely mention for James Hay), I noticed she referred to being at the 499th RB Nutcracker performance. That means the next one, Saturday's I presume, was the 500th. Was it mentioned?
Glad that they made that one. Here's to the next 500.- 2

Surely you can read Telegraph reviews if you log in? I don't have a problem (except when I want to read more than my allotted one or two articles per week).
Ah, but to log in you have to agree to receive emails from the Telegraph, or you did last time I looked, and I am not prepared to agree to that. I used to visit my local library regularly and look at the articles I'd made note of.

............ Swan Lake partnerships, and they were simplifying some of the movements – for example (please excuse any deficient terminology) when she hopped forward in arabesque, his accompanying lift was straight up and down, whilst she held position – in other partnerships Siegfried lifts Odette and turns her around whilst she bends right over backwards and extends one leg straight up into the air. ......
They were not simplifying this. It is a version that is used by many others in the Royal Ballet.

I wish all of you who are able to attend these performances all the best for an enjoyable evening. As I can't get to ROH, not allowed to use public transport and have sight impairment so can't drive, I'm still hoping they'll live stream, or as live, one of each of these programmes.
Has anyone had any recent response to this request?

Given that they have already streamed Elite, maybe it will be the turn of the ‘Golden Hour’ programme to be streamed in November.
Ah, but it wont be the same doubled up Elite as in the Gala, and there will be all the other items in the programme. I had the impression there'd be some different ones there.

will continue its free #OurHouseToYourHouse broadcasts with a new Friday Premiere of Crystal Pite’s Olivier award-winning Flight Pattern (2019), which will be broadcast for free, wherever you are in the world, by YouTube, on 6 November
Lovely. Although that's the same week, including that evening, that there are the four live performances at ROH of the Elite Syncopations etc programme. Hope this doesn't mean there wont be a live streaming of that

Since I'm on doctors' (yes, plural) orders not to travel on public transport, and walking from the outer edge of Greater London to ROH is a bit far, I'm hoping that a performance of each will be streamed

And the BBC News item is now as a clip on bbc.co.uk/news, and when I looked it was listed as one of the most watched. There was more in it than I saw on the 6pm News

Mmmm, now there's an idea for an existing couple.

If you like to support The Royal Opera House with your DVD / Blu-ray buying, the Concerto Enigma Raymonda recording is now available from the ROH shop.

There were no restrictions on photos and I would have done a selfie but for the fact that I was wearing a mask although some would say I look better wearing a mask
I was expecting a selfie of your feet doing a little dance, perhaps steps taught to you by your favourite dancer 😀

Surely DVDs should be being replaced by online pay-to-view versions? I know one can already do this with some existing DVDs.
For instance the RB Sleeping Beauty - Alina Cojocaru, Federico Bonelli and Marianela Nunez (Lilac Fairy) - is free-to-view on Amazon Prime Video for prime subscribers. Non-subscribers can rent it for £3.49!
Some people don't have sufficient, or any, online access and some people prefer to avoid Amazon. Some people just like having the actual items to use at will. To stop issuing dvds/blurays would not, imo, be a good idea.
(I was going to write something stronger but changed my mind)- 7

I have it on my TV OK but on my dvd recorder it has picked up Sky Arts as channel 11 but no programmes showing on the guide so can't set to record. Anyone else have this problem?
There's no way I'm going to get up to watch ballet at 6am or thereabouts which is when they seem to be showing such programmes. -

21/22 Cinema/stream season
in Ballet / Dance news & information

I took it that the cinema and streaming ones so far announced are for the period one section of the season, other periods to follow later. At least that is what I have assumed, I hope correctly.
