  1. My daughter would like a stretch band to help with her box splits and general stretching. She’s only 137cm and a lot of the bands we have tried are too big. She wants to do follow tutorials by Claudia Dean etc (supervised of course and I’m a ballet teacher) and we need some equipment. Suggestions pls and thank you

  2. My girls did cheer leading and acro classes which helped massively with their flexibility. When they stopped those activities and focused on dance, they maintained their flexibility by continuing to stretch at home which has helped in their technique classes. I would recommend if you can enrol your daughter in a “tumble” class or acro class that would really help

  3. Yes very true. I stay in the room and observe, make sure she’s not over doing it. As I said, definitely need to ensure they have a good warm up before hand. I think sometimes we tread so carefully about all this stuff, if you’re in the room you can supervise them. This is the option we use and it works for us. Others may find another route. I was just sharing.

  4. @Workhard_Dreambigwishing all the best with your exam. I’m planning on taking my advanced foundation, wasn’t quite brave enough to jump to advanced 1! My pointe work is my weakness. Only thing that’s ever helped me with pirouettes is squeezing the arms in and although it doesn’t look the best, I get round!! (Most times 🙈) look forward to hearing how it went 💫

  5. I just checked the website, there is no link to the application. You could try and email them however more likely have a chance next year now. Sorry you missed the date. It used to be that the dancers dance school would discuss with parents about applying for different things outside the normal extra curricular dance classes and they would keep up with all the dates for applications etc.

  6. Based in Essex we have a few amazing teachers locally. Groups classes and private lessons could be manageable, It’s just a lot of money isn’t it! The travelling to associate programmes, funding costumes and all the different uniforms etc plus if they want to be a part of LCB/EYB, masterclasses, spring/summer schools, competitions….. I can only imagine the older they get, the more money it will cost. Of course, if you have the money I think it’s quite doable especially if you’re close to London with all the suggestions that have been made.

  7. Just talking hypothetically here….the results are in. Unfortunately, it's a no for Whitelodge, Elmhurst, and Tring, for example. So, what's the next step? If vocational training is not an option, what other types of training could be pursued? How many hours per week should be dedicated to training, and how many private and group lessons should be taken? Additionally, what extracurricular activities could help maintain strong technique? Should festivals be put on hold in favor of bigger global competitions? I'm curious about the alternatives available for those who don't attend vocational school in year 7.
